Jeff Sessions Gets The Trump Boot

- Does a nervous Trump have a secret plan?

Does the new Democrat-controlled House of Representatives have Donald Trump secretly shaking in his boots?  The firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggests the answer is YES!

Politics
On Wednesday, Trump began the day with a celebratory press conference inside The White House to pat himself on the back for the GOP Senate wins on election day.  Then he fired Jeff Sessions.

“At your request I am submitting my resignation,” Jeff Sessions wrote in a letter to White House chief of staff John Kelly.

“We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States. He will serve our Country well …We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well! A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date,” Trump tweeted later in the day.

So, what’s really going on here? Why did Donald Trump give Jeff Sessions the boot less than 24 hours after Democrats regained power in the House?

It’s all about the Robert Mueller investigation.

For the past year, Trump has used the Republican-led US House and Senate as cover from the Mueller investigation into his alleged Russian collusion, secret tax returns, and foreign business dealings. As Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes has coddled Trump and purposely brushed the congressional investigation into him under the rug.

Well, with Rep. Elijah Cummings, Rep. Maxine Waters, and Rep. Jerrold Nadler prepping to assume power in Washington, all of that is about to change.

“This election was about accountability,” Rep. Nadler said on Wednesday. “Donald Trump may not like hearing it, but for the first time, his administration is going to be held accountable. He’s going to learn that he’s not above the law.”

Interestingly, Trump knows his days of not being held accountable have come to an end — which is why he fired Jeff Sessions.

“I could see a scenario where Jeff Sessions is replaced with a recess appointment and that Attorney General doesn’t fire Bob Mueller, but he just reduces his budget so low that his investigation grinds to almost a halt.” – Matthew Whitaker, 2017

By booting Sessions and installing his own hand-picked flunkie in the attorney general post, Trump now has the ability to control the Mueller investigation.  According to Whitaker’s own words, the Trump flunkie will now almost certainly undercut the investigation by reducing the operating budget so low, Robert Mueller will be forced to discontinue the probe on his own due to lack of funding.

Smart, right?  Not necessarily.

The incoming Democratic power-brokers in Congress are 2 steps ahead of Trump’s plan and are already demanding answers regarding the firing of Jeff Sessions.  Additionally, they are vowing that if Trump’s acting attorney general attempts to end funding or otherwise impede in the Mueller investigation, the House of Representatives will pick up the probe from wherever Mueller leaves off.

Or, in other words, getting rid of Jeff Sessions will NOT get rid of the Trump investigation.

Stay tuned…

Does the new Democrat-controlled House of Representatives have Donald Trump secretly shaking in his boots? The firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggests the answer is YES! […] -DJ

Yep Trump is “shaking in his boots” but given how unhinged he appeared to be at that crazy presser he held yesterday, I’d say his FEAR ain’t much of a “secret.” Look at his face. He, and his clan, are probably in full PANIC mode as they’re sensing that Mueller probably has INDICTMENTS signed, sealed and “ret ta go” at a moments notice. Certainly Donnie Jr., and maybe even Jared, should be very worried.

Let’s fasten our seat-belts because I expect Trump to take his Crazy to whole new Crazy level now that he’s feeling real pressure….and that pressure grows more each day.

You got that right.

But I want to ask – when the investigation is completed is there any legal way for Trump and his cronies to block Mueller’s final report from being made public?

Mr.BD

Wow I never thought of it this way. Thanks for the lesson DJ. I know Trump has wanted Sessions to be out a long time but this makes a lot of sense now. He is trying every way he can to keep Dems from knowing about his taxes or business deals. To me that says he is hiding something. Like the old saying goes you can run but you can’t hide. Dems are about to be all over his butt.

USA Today: WASHINGTON – George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, co-authored an op-ed in The New York Timeson Thursday, which argued President Donald Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general is unconstitutional. “President Trump’s installation of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general of the United States after forcing the resignation of Jeff Sessions is unconstitutional. It’s illegal. And it means that anything Mr. Whitaker does, or tries to do, in that position is invalid,” reads the piece by lawyers Conway and Neal Katyal. Trump fired Sessions Wednesday and announced Whitaker, Sessions’s chief of staff at the Department of Justice, would take over. Conway and Katyal argue that Whitaker’s appointment is a violation of the principles of the Constitution’s Appointments Clause, “designed to protect us all against the centralization of government power.” “Mr. Whitaker has not been named to some junior post one or two… Read more »
