Jeff Sessions Being Used To Get Mueller?

Riddle me this: Why has Donald Trump been publicly gunning for his hand-picked attorney general Jeff Sessions and looking to badmouth and/or force him out at every turn? You don’t have to look further than Special Investigator Robert Mueller to get your answer.
Politics
It’s no secret among political circles that “The Donald” wants Mueller gone — YESTERDAY! Apparently, Mueller has unraveled a tangled web of crime, collusion, obstruction, and deception that might be inches away from bringing the reign of King Trump to a colossal close. So, the attacks against Sessions are a strategic move by the conniving Trump to throw himself a lifeline in order to save the entire Trump clan.
When Trump selected then-Sen. Jeff Sessions to be his attorney general, he did so with the wink-and-a-nod belief that Sessions would do his bidding and protect him from the years of corruption and possible collusion that got him to The White House. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Instead of bowing to protect King Donald, Sessions threw out a curve ball and recused himself from the Russia probe that has been dogging the Trump presidency from the very beginning — which absolutely infuriated the so-called leader of the free world.
Oh, what’s a troubled monarch to do?
The decision by Sessions to step aside (which was a correct one, since he is also a player in the Trump-Russia collusion probe), left Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein (who is no Trump fan) in charge of the store. It was Rosenstein who selected Robert Mueller to lead the investigation into possible Trump improprieties, which was a chess move “The Donald” never expected.
Now, the heat is on King Trump, members of his family and his entire clan — and it’s beginning to scorch his ass. “The Donald” doesn’t like being held accountable for ANYTHING, however, he is weakened by the constitutional powers of Mueller who could be close to burning the entire Trump house of cards to the ground.
On Tuesday, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was subpoenaed by the Senate Judiciary Committee. That move appears to be a precursor to Trump’s greatest fear: a grand jury subpoena subjecting his entire business empire and tax returns to Robert Mueller scrutiny — which for Trump, could be a public and prosecutorial nightmare.
Oh, what’s a troubled street-fighter like Trump to do?
Politics
His only hope now is to embarrass/anger Jeff Sessions into quitting (how dare he recuse himself?). Then, with Sessions out-of-the-way, a shiny new (read: loyal) Trump-appointed attorney general could come in, call the entire probe an expensive liberal witch-hunt, muck up the Mueller investigation, and save the day!
Or, a shiny new Trump-appointed attorney general could come in and provide Trump cover to outright fire Mueller, which would also save the day. Oh, and that rat Rosenstein could get what’s coming to him, too!
Removing all obstacles at the Justice Department provides a clear shot at Trump’s true target: Robert Mueller. If you’re thinking this all eerily reminds you of Richard Nixon’s historic “Saturday Night Massacre,” you’re absolutely correct.
For months, Trump has been trying (and failing) to get the monkey of this Russia probe off his back.
He tried to sweet-talk then-FBI Director James Comey into looking the other way and letting the whole “Michael Flynn thing” go. It didn’t work.
He tried to squash the Russia talk by firing Comey, assuming that single move would be a magic bullet to kill collusion claims. It didn’t work.
He tried to get his buddy/attorney general Jeff Sessions to smooth things over for him and “cook-the-books” in his favor inside the Justice Department. It didn’t work.
Now he’s trying to drive Sessions and Rosenstein out, as Step 1 in a 2 part plan to oust Mueller.
Will it work?
Oh, Donald… we’re on to you!
.
Great post DJ. You’ve laid out the details quite nicely.
Okay so…admittedly, I smile just a little when I hear cable-news yappers and a few elected officials on Capitol Hill declare – if Trump dares to fire Sessions well THEN that’ll surely spark a “Constitutional Crisis.”
PULeeze. As if WE (this nation) haven’t been in full-blown “Constitutional Crisis” mode since the day that dangerous fool was elected president via the electoral college!?! And indeed it was (then Senator) Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III who played a major role in getting that dangerous fool elected.
So here’s what I think. Sessions should NOT resign. But both of those clowns are a piece of work. And both of them certainly deserve each other.
