Trump: “I dropped Arpaio pardon during Harvey because of ratings”

President Donald Trump hit former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton for their pardons and commutations, while defending his own controversial pardon of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio — including the decision to drop the news as Hurricane Harvey was bearing down on Texas.

“A lot of people think it was the right thing to do,” the president said Monday, during a joint press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto. “Actually, in the middle of a hurricane, even though it was a Friday evening, I assumed the ratings would be far higher than they were normally.” – Politico

Trump has nothing to base pardoning Apaio for other than helping a friend get away with breaks g the law. That’s not what the pardon is for though. I could see this getting challenged in court and it should. If it can get him impeached too even better.

Yes indeed. Arpaio is every bit a revolting piece of work as His president. And predictably Trump chose to pardon Arpaio late Friday evening just as a Category 4 Hurricane was baring down on the 4th largest city in the U.S. In addition to having fired that other fat-mouth, right-wing nutjob Sebastian Gorka on the same evening. The fact that one has to question if Trump was trying to bury those two stories? OR was he actually trying to steel the spotlight from the hurricane?…tells you just how screwed We are with that fool in the oval office.

That said. Dems have no time (or reason for that matter) to lick their chops. Governing as an anti-Trump party alone AIN’T gonna cut it. Give the majority of Americans solid reasons to vote FOR you not just against Trump or the 2018 mid-term elections may end up looking very much like the 2016 elections, with Repubs retaining their majority in the House and Senate.
