Actor John Amos has died under perplexing and suspicious circumstances.
Entertainment :
On Tuesday, it was announced that John Amos, best known for portraying the role of James Evans, Sr. on the 70s sitcom GOOD TIMES, has passed away.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned,” a statement from son, Kelly Christopher Amos, read. “He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor.”
However, in a strange development, it was revealed that Amos passed away on August 21st — more than a month before his death was announced. Additionally, his daughter, Shannon Amos, told the media that she only learned of her father’s death from watching the news like everyone else.
According to CNN, the children of John Amos had a bitter disagreement regarding his care, which became public last year after Shannon raised concerns to law enforcement that she believed her father was “a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation” at the hands of her brother, Kelly.
“I am without words…Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my Dad, John Allen Amos, Jr., transitioned on August 21st,” Shannon Amos wrote in a social media post. “We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you.”
Understandably, the court of public opinion has questions. For example, why did Kelly Amos keep news of the beloved actor’s death a secret for 5 weeks — and why was Amos’ daughter not informed of her dad’s passing until he was already dead and buried?
