Judge Tammy Kemp Discusses Courtroom ‘Hug’

Spread The Love

After seemingly putting aside her impartiality in a court of law, Judge Tammy Kemp is finally speaking out.

Current Events
Judge Kemp presided over the case that convicted Dallas police officer Amber Guyger, who shot and killed Botham Jean in his own apartment after claiming she thought she was entering her own apartment and that Jean was a burglar.

Since the trial, Kemp has taken extensive heat (primarily from the African-American community) for stepping off of the bench to hug Guyger, who had just been convicted of murder, before handing her a bible and offering to pray for her.

“Frankly, I don’t think I would be getting this criticism if Miss Guyger were a Black woman. I hate that we limit our compassion to one race,” Kemp said.

Check out the video below and hear Kemp’s words and explanations for yourself.  Then tell us:  was Kemp right or wrong for providing comfort to a convicted murderer whose trial she had just heard?

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!

Thanks for sharing this video DJ. As you correctly note – Judge Kemp “has taken extensive heat (primarily from the African-American community) for stepping off of the bench to hug Guyger,”…a convicted murderer.

The truth is, I hadn’t watched any of her post-trial interviews until now. I watched this video and also the video of her interview with Tamron Hall. Count me NOT impressed with her explanation.

Here are the key questions I’d like to ask her: How many other convicted murderers has she hugged? Given a bible and/or words of encouragement to? And of those convicted murderers how many were Black?

TGIF!
