Compared to how often the names (and contributions) of some Civil Rights icons have been mentioned over the years, it seems to me that Julian Bond was not in that number. Or perhaps his name was often mentioned bu for some reason it didn't resonate with me(?)

Upon hearing the news of his passing, I took the time do research Mr. Bond's history and I must admit I was taken aback just a bit to learn that in 1989, he divorced his Black wife of 28 yrs and one year later married Pamela Sue Horowitz (a White Jewish lady) and "a former SPLC staff attorney." .

Of course that does NOT diminsh in any way his contribution in the fight for Equality and Civil Rights. But it did suprise me.
