Jumping To Conclusions About Collusion?

- How 'Trumpies' Are Standing By Their Man

Story Highlights
  • Donald Trump is grossly unqualified, a narcissist, a liar, a cheat, a misogynist, a xenophobe, an Islamophobe...
  • The Constitution does not provide for the removal of a president for impulsive, ignorant incompetence. It does provide for the removal of a president for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Granted, it’s probably only a matter of time before Donald Trump and his clan are brought down regarding their questionable ties to Russia and other high crimes and misdemeanors. However, are most Americans unnecessarily jumping to conclusions when it comes to calls for impeachment? According to Trump supporters, the answer is a resounding YES!

Politics
In an appearance last week on CNN, a former George W. Bush White House aide delivered an urgent message: Trump supporters have had it up to here with the anti-Trump movement continuously jumping to conclusions every time even a sliver of negative information comes out against “The Donald.” The Republican aide added that whenever the Trump crowd sees anyone going “from zero to sixty” and instantly calling for impeachment at every turn, it only strengthens their support and desire to protect their guy, instead of the other way around.

He has a valid point.

Jumping To Conclusions
Rep. Brad Sherman

Last Wednesday, Rep. Brad Sherman of California officially filed articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, on the grounds that he allegedly interfered with the FBI investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“I believe his conversations with, and subsequent firing of, FBI Director Comey constitute obstruction of justice,” Sherman said in a statement. “…The Constitution does not provide for the removal of a president for impulsive, ignorant incompetence. It does provide for the removal of a president for high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Reportedly, a handful of Democratic and Republican lawmakers are quietly behind the congressman. Still, the numbers are nowhere near what would be required to remove Trump from office.

Is this too much, too soon? Perhaps.

A large and growing contingent of Americans knows and believe that Donald Trump is grossly unqualified, a narcissist, a liar, a cheat, a misogynist, a xenophobe, an Islamophobe, and a likely crook who probably colluded with the Russians to tilt the 2016 presidential election in his favor. They also know that his son, Donald Jr., is “like-father-like-son” and, along with Jared Kushner, lied about multiple meetings with the Russians and likely carried out “The Donald’s” dirty work in implementing a crooked election win.

However, does any of this present a clear-cut case for impeachment? Not yet!

Politics
Special Investigator Robert Mueller is already considering the legal ramifications of Trump’s actions and could bring him and his cronies down based on any criminal activity. However, the subject of impeachment is not a criminal procedure, but a political one. House and Senate lawmakers have the sole authority to decide what they believe rises to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, and what (if anything) might successfully force Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.

With Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, there is no way in hell (yet) any proposal for impeachment will get very far. Trump supporters know that. They also know how eager many are to cancel out their vote and (in their words) change the outcome of the November election — which is why they are fed up with those who are jumping to conclusions and wanting Trump thrown out of office.

We may not like Trump supporters. We may not understand Trump supporters. We may not even have a clue as to what universe their form of alternative logic comes from. However, we do have to respect them. We can’t simply remove their guy from office simply because he’s an embarrassing imbecile. Imagine how Americans would feel if Donald Trump had successfully been able to get Barack Obama removed from office simply because he didn’t like him, or because of the outlandish assumption that he was not a US citizen?

So, this might be a good time for the anti-Trump movement to calm down, take a deep breath, and avoid jumping to conclusions at all cost. Let the process play out. Let the investigators do their jobs. Allow a rock solid, iron clad case to be built against Donald Trump and his people — just like any attorney worth his salt would do. Then, when the time is right, allow the powers that be to present a unpenetrable case that even the most ardent Trump supporters will be powerless to challenge.

For now, we must be patient, America. We’re not there yet… but I’d bet the farm that we will be soon enough!

DJ, you've summed up the entire situation quite accurately….and I couldn't agree more with you!

Mr. BD

You made some good points here DJ. I didn't look at it from this angle before, so you're right his people are not going to see who he really is long as we keep yelling impeach. But you're also right that he is a liar and cheat and crook and everything else. LOL
