Communities of all races across America celebrated Juneteenth 2022 earlier this week — and its official holiday.

Current Events :
Juneteenth (combining the words “June” and “nineteenth”) is the date commemorating the actual end of slavery in the United States — when the last slaves in America (in Galveston, TX) were officially freed 2 1/2 years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth 2022

Juneteenth was officially Sunday, June 19, 2022. However, multiple states across the country recognized Juneteenth on Monday, June 20, 2022, with an official work holiday.

I sincerely appreciate the fact that my employer has officially recognized ‘Juneteenth’ as a paid holiday since 2012.

Can’t say I’m surprised that nearly half of the states in Our country still “don’t recognize it as an official state holiday.” Bet I can name most of those states. But here’s the thing – most of the “leaders” of those states know darn well that NOT officially recognizing the historical significance of Juneteenth WON’T make it disappear. Millions of Americans are very AWARE of it now!

And it seems, as more and more Americans, particularly White Americans, are Open to learning about the True history of America – INCLUDING African-American/Black History – more and more Americans, particularly White Americans accept that Truth and embrace the significance of it!
