Justice Barrett Party: Superspreader Event Pt. 2

Spread The Love

As if the first superspreader event wasn’t enough, The White House threw a Justice Barrett party on the South Lawn on Monday to celebrate the new Supreme Court justice.

Politics
On September 26th, Donald Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the US Supreme Court. He then hosted a “COVID-be-damned” mask-free party on the grounds of The White House to celebrate the trick nomination of the ultra-conservative Barrett — which ended with 34 coronavirus cases spread throughout the West Wing and Donald Trump hospitalized with COVID-19. Fast-forward to October 26th when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell forced a rushed confirmation and swearing-in ceremony of now-Justice Amy Coney Barrett. That event culminated with yet another “COVID-be-damned” mask-free Justice Barrett party on the grounds of The White House to celebrate the trick confirmation of the ultra-conservative Barrett.

Justice Barrett Party

The only question is: how many new COVID cases will this White House superspreader event end with this time?

Eight months before former President Obama’s final term ended, Republicans refused to even acknowledge his selection of Merrick Garland to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Mitch McConnell claimed it was “too close” to the 2016 presidential election for an Obama appointment to be fair and that it was best for Congress to bypass Judge Garland and “let the American people decide” via the ballot box. Sen. Lindsey Graham even went so far as to say that not only was the decision the right thing to do, but he vowed that if the same circumstance presented itself in 2020, he’d vote the exact same way and prevent whoever was president from selecting a Supreme Court nominee so close to an election.

Clearly, that promise didn’t age well and Republican hypocrisy sent it flying out the window.
.

“Nearly every Republican in this chamber led by the majority leader four years ago refused to even consider the Supreme Court nomination of a Democratic president on the grounds … that we should wait until after the presidential election because the American people deserved a voice in the selection of their next justice. My colleagues, there is no escaping this glaring hypocrisy. As I said before, no tit for tat convoluted distorted version of history will wipe away the stain that will exist forever with this Republican majority and with this Republican leader.” – Sen. Chuck Schumer

.
Despite going totally against their own rules and their own word, the GOP saw an opportunity to pack the high court with conservative judges for their own political gain. Now, after confirming Justice Barrett 52-48, they intend to tear down Obamacare, turn back the clock on same-sex marriage, and remove a woman’s right to choose with the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

With millions of Americans out of work, unable to pay mortgages and rent, scraping to keep food on the table, and not knowing where the next dollar will come from due to the COVID pandemic, the Republican-led US Senate decided racing a Supreme Court justice confirmation to fruition was much more important than approving financial assistance for a suffering American populace.
.

Sen. Lindsey Graham raced the Barrett confirmation through the Senate judiciary committee and Sen. Mitch McConnell raced the Barrett vote through the full Senate.

Justice Barrett Party

So, it was only natural for Donald Trump to throw a victorious Justice Barrett party to stroke his thirsty ego and to celebrate the Republican hypocrisy that created a now-tilted Supreme Court only 8 days before the most important presidential election in a century.

And, come January 20, 2021, it will be only natural for President Joe Biden to add 2 additional justices to the US Supreme Court to right this Republican wrong and to salvage democracy.

Since karma always wins, let’s see how many new COVID cases Monday’s Justice Barrett party racks up this go-round!

And Biden d*mn well better do it..and do it as soon as he possibly can or the Dem party will feel the wrath of voters like Me. We’re NOT

It’s been reported that Biden is going to convene a bipartisan commission to look into expanding the U.S. Supreme Court. Okay. That’s fine. But he darn sure better set a reasonable deadline to wrap that up and get on with the business of doing what is right.

Oops! I just noticed that I got distracted and didn’t complete a sentence in my response.

I meant to say: or the Dem party will feel the wrath of voters like Me. We’re NOT playing!

She is *Barrett with an asterisk! She has not earned three letters! She’s a zealot handpicked by zealots.

“She’s a zealot handpicked by zealots.”

You got that right.

New York Times: President Trump, who loves to boast of doing anything his predecessors have never done, pulled off such a historic first on Monday. He won confirmation of a Supreme Court justice only eight days before a presidential election, rushing his choice through the Senate before voters decide whether to give him four more years or kick him out of office. Mr. Trump then did something else no other president has done. He hosted a nighttime ceremony on the White House lawn to swear in Justice Amy Coney Barrett in a virtual do-over of  the superspreader event blamed for infecting multiple people with the coronavirus a month ago to the day, including the president himself, who was forced to spend three nights in the hospital. To Mr. Trump, the first history-maker outweighed the second, a chance to celebrate a landmark political victory regardless of the risk. It was, in effect, the triumph of defiance over… Read more »

They tried to pull a fast one but karma is going to get the last laugh in. But I did notice Barrett said last night she is not going to be political or do what she thinks personally. Talk is cheap so we will see.
