So for all the patriotic people who are offended, are you equally offended by those who stand for the anthem and wear the confederate flag while doing so. You know the symbol which represents a time when some "patriots" waged war to separate from because they didn't like something! Standing for the anthem or saluting the flag does not a patriot make!

Colin Kapernick is a American so he should act like one. Be respectful and stand up on the anthem. Nobody wants to hear you whine about black lives matter.

Colin is not committing any crime. Standing up on the anthem is just a tradition but nobody made it mandatory. So it is his right to do whaevert he wants to do. He already said he is not doing it for attention but it's the principal of it all. Police brutality is real important to him because he doesn't care if he loses money or whatever. So i stand by this brother. Everybody should mind their business. It's like the same people who got mad when Gabby Douglas didn't put her hand on her chest when she won the medal. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill. Like Truth said why is that song even played before a football game anyway? It's a game not the fourth of July. Give me a break.

“I have been trying to work out my position on the Colin Kaepernick affair, and nothing quite satisfies.”

The statement aforementioned describes my take on this situation exactly. There are so may angles to view this from.

But I will say this………

I may not much like Colin's actions here (frankly, I wonder if he was primarily motivated to do this to distract from all the drama currently going on between him and the 49ers front-office(?) However, I'm even more bothered by the degree of hostility and vitriol being expressed by some people towards Colin for taking such action. Certainly, people can disagree with Colin without going to the extremes in their opposition.

I recognize that it's no minor thing, refusing to stand for the National Anthem. But Good. Lord. The man is committing no crime. He has wronged no one. He is merrily exercising his legal right to speak out, and peacefully protest, against "police brutality and racial injustice in the United States."

Btw- I wonder. Of all the people pitching a fit about Colin's actions – how many of those "patriotic" Americans actually know the words to the National Anthem?

And why is singing the National Anthem a pre-game ritual anyway?
