Kamala Harris Hate: Why Do People Dislike Her?

Spread The Love

Have you ever wondered what’s behind all the Kamala Harris hate?

Politics :
Since the day she was sworn in as vice-president of the United States, general consensus among the court of public opinion has been unfavorable toward Kamala Harris. Word on the street has been that she’s unlikeable, incompetent, and incapable of the very real possibility of stepping into the role of president if need be.

Some Americans say they don’t like her laugh, or they don’t think she’s doing enough as the vice president (despite the fact that she serves at the pleasure of the president and can only do what he asks her to do).

Kamala Harris Hate

Fox News has frequently piled on Vice-President Harris. In fact, on-air personality Joe Concha accused her of having an “authenticity problem” and of “ignoring” her job as VP.

“I don’t know what else they can do with her. The more people see Kamala Harris, the more they simply do not like her,” he said earlier this month.

He also mocked the notion that Republicans hate her because they secretly fear her.

So, where did the Kamala Harris hate originate? And, why have so many Americans decided they just don’t like her without being able to provide a legitimate reason to back up their disdain?

Interestingly, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has a theory and believes we can blame history for the Kamala Harris hate. Or, to be more specific, he believes some Americans don’t like the vice president because she’s Black and she’s a woman!

According to Scarborough, racism and misogyny are behind the low approval ratings for Vice President Harris and ongoing public suggestions that President Biden should replace her as his running mate.

Kamala Harris Hate

“Well, there is this undercurrent, like she’s Black and a woman, and that’s why people don’t like her because she’s a vice president. What are we going to do? We need to change her!” the aggravated host said on Friday’s installment of Morning Joe. “I just go, where were you when Dan Quayle was vice president? Where were you? Nobody remembers this.”

Eddie Glaude Jr., who is an author and a former African American Studies chair at Princeton University, agreed with Scarborough’s take on the Kamala Harris hate.

“The possibility of a Black woman being the president. Right? Enters into that kind of swirl of grievance and concern,” he said. “But we know that the real worry here is, you know, a Black woman. That’s the real concern.”

Kamala Harris Hate

Former White House Director of Communications Jen Palmieri said she didn’t understand the low poll numbers for the vice president, particularly since Ms. Harris draws crowds of supporters at events.

“You know, I traveled with her recently to Iowa,” she said. “I don’t think Mike Pence had people show up, you know, cheering throngs showing up to the airport to greet them or standing ovations, excited standing ovations or big lines at HBCUs — that doesn’t happen to other vice presidents.”

“She’s arguably the most valuable running mate that a president has had in a while,” she concluded.

Are Scarborough and the others on to something? Could being the first Black and the first female vice president in US history be the true reason behind the Kamala Harris hate?

I agree with Scarborough. It’s primarily because she’s Black, a woman AND most importantly, she sits in the 2nd most Powerful seat in the world!

And since we try hard to keep it real on this site I must say this. Racist White men aren’t the only men who are misogynistic and feel threatened by Powerful women.

There are many Black and brown men who are just as fragile and hateful towards women, especially Powerful Black Women!

This is a good topic. I hear a whole lot of people say they do not like Kamala. But when I ask them to explain they cannot put it into words. I never stopped to think how much of it is because she is a black woman. You opened my eyes today DJ.
