Though Thompson acknowledged that he didn’t have a ton of screen time on the episode, he said he got to witness “the circus unfold” while watching West’s unaired pro-Trump rant backstage.

Referring to when West stopped his performance to bring cast members onto the stage to present his opinions on slavery and liberalism and his support for President Trump, Thompson said, “I don’t know if that’s the moment, necessarily, to hold people hostage like that.” He later added of his castmates who got trapped onstage: “I felt so bad for those guys. It’s hard to stand there and not be able to debate somebody who is going so far against your personal opinion as well and just stand there and take it.”

Thompson also said SNL is in the service business and tries to remain fair at all times and does not judge musical guests or hosts who might be “crazy.”

Not at ll surprising that he and Trump get along so well. Like Trump, Kanye has worked hard over the years to discredit himself and show himself to be a Poseur. They are kindred spirits, in many ways, cut from the same phony-azz and clownish cloth and being serious “head-cases” to boot.
