ELECTION DAY!
It’s Election Day in parts of the country today. Among the most significant races are:
ARKANSAS — Senate: Blanche Lincoln (D) seeking re-election. House: 4 seats. Governor: Mike Beebe (D) seeking re-election. (Runoff date: June 8)
KENTUCKY — Senate: Open; Jim Bunning (R) retiring. House: 6 seats.
OREGON — Senate: Ron Wyden (D) seeking re-election. House: 5 seats. Governor: Open; Ted Kulongoski (D) term-limited.
PENNSYLVANIA — Senate: Arlen Specter (D) seeking re-election. House: 19 seats. Governor: Open; Ed Rendell (D) term-limited.
If you’re in one of these states, make sure to get out there, cast your ballot and VOTE!
Voting's over, the results are in and I think the message is clear:"Angry Voters Send Message at Polls" [Tea party favorite Rand Paul wins in Kentucky; party-switching incumbent Specter is ousted. Critz (a Conservative Dem) wins special election to replace the late Rep. John Murtha.Arkansas incumbent Lincoln forced into runoff.]
David Frum: “How is it that the GOP has lost its antibodies against a candidate like Rand Paul? In the past few months, we have seen GOP conservatives rally against Utah Sen. Bob Bennett. ..despite Paul’s self-presentation as “anti-establishment,” the D.C. conservative establishment by and large made its peace with him. It is this acquiescence – even more than Paul’s own nomination – that is the most ominous news from tonight’s vote.”HAH! Word to Frum: Rand Paul’s resounding WIN is the end results of Nixon’s Southern Strategy” and Bush/Cheney "neoCONism" (my word). How's THIS for "Change": The “crazy kinfolk” the Republican hierarchy has been actively "feeding" and keeping in the basement “under control” have broken FREE, come up OUT the basement, don’t like how they've been "played" NOT.ONE.D*MN.BIT. _and now have taken over YOUR HOUSE.I won’t lie. As a moderate/Conservative Democrat (currently registered “Independent”) I would LOVE to see a major UPRISING within the Democratic Party where Dem voters (Liberals/Moderates/Conservatives) throw out Senate and Congressional Dem incumbents en masse and elect NEW reps who are Intelligent, take governing SERIOUSLY, present FRESH ideas w/realistic goals and objectives. Keep the “extremist left” marginalized and I would gladly reregister as a Democrat.
Oh_and Word to the President: STOP wasting Time and "political capital" backing the WRONG candidates! You've got waaay too many more critical matters to attend to_like CREATING NEW JOBS and getting Us out of Afghanistan.
