Friday is an important day for Washington, for The White House — and for Karine Jean-Pierre.
Politics :
In less than 24 hours from this publication, Karine Jean-Pierre will make history as the first Black and first openly LGBTQ person to serve as the new White House press secretary.
African-Americans and members of the gay community have been cheering with pride and glee ever since President Biden announced that Ms. Jean-Pierre was chosen to replace outgoing press secretary Jen Psaki.
“I am proud to announce that Karine Jean-Pierre will serve as the next White House Press Secretary,” the president said in a statement.
“Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people. Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration,” he added.
Upon news that Ms. Jean-Pierre would become the new press “face” of the Biden administration, several (mostly conservative) publications questioned if the incoming press secretary could be fair and impartial in her duties. The concerns are based on information that Jean-Pierre is in a long-term domestic partnership with prominent CNN political reporter Suzanne Malveaux — and that the pair share a 7-year-old daughter.
However, judging by the motley crew of questionable “press secretaries” Donald Trump trotted out on a regular basis, the Haitian-born Jean-Pierre should be a breath of fresh air to America.
So, congratulations to the new White House press secretary — and congratulations to President Joe Biden for making AND keeping his promise to promote more Black women into the top and most visible ranks of government.
“Most of all, I want to say that every word of this book was written with love for my partner, Suzanne Malveaux, and our daughter, Soleil Malveaux Jean-Pierre. You are my life.”

OK WASSUP! discusses Politics:
Karine Jean-Pierre steps into White House history.
Umm…I guess I’m about to get my “Black” and “Gay” card pulled because frankly, I’m not so sure this a wise move right now for Pres. Biden and the Dems.
Not because she isn’t qualified (experienced, informed, articulate). Karine Jean-Pierre absolutely IS all that and more!
But I’m concerned about the “timing” of it. As they say, depending on the situation at hand, “Timing is everything.”
Just as Repubs tend to be so hateful towards all “Others”, in particular the LGBTQ community, I think the Dems are going too far in catering to the LGBTQ community and they risk turning off a lot of voters (conservatives, independents, even some liberals) who would otherwise vote “Dem.”
