KEITH OLBERMANN OUT AT MSNBC

Spread The Love

After 8 years with the network as their most high profile and successful anchor, Keith Olbermann is out (for good this time) at MSNBC.

In 2010. Olbermann donated $2,400 — the maximum individual amount allowed — to the Gabrielle Gifford campaign, as well as the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva.  But according to internal rules at MSNBC, that is not allowed.  The network suspended Olbermann for a few days following the controversy, but their relationship was strained since then.  So perhaps the writing was on the wall, when MSNBC made the abrupt decision to basically fire Olbermann late Friday night without warning.

NBC Universal released the following statement regarding Olbermann:  “MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract.  The last broadcast of ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

  1. Not sure what really led to this(?) But the truth is, except for an occasional check-in, I stopped watching Keith (and mosts of cable news programming on CNN and MSNBC) quite some time ago. Faux news was never on my radar.Anyway: Time will tell whether this was a smart move on the part of some head-honcho at MSNBC (Keith's show was that station's highest rated show)…OR an absolute disastrous one, in which case said head-honcho will soon himself/herself be out of job.
