Kentucky, Virginia, And The Bad Future For The GOP
Are huge Democratic wins in Tuesday’s Kentucky and Virginia elections a sign of things to come for Donald Trump and the GOP?
Politics
The recent November 5th election couldn’t have gone any worse for the Republican Party. Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear defeated incumbent Republican Gov. Matt Bevin in the traditionally red state of Kentucky. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate in Virginia and created a political trifecta (having already been in control of the governor’s mansion).
.
Was the Kentucky and Virginia blue wave an incredible stroke of luck for the Democrats — or a legitimate precursor to what Republicans can expect in the 2020 election?
Political pundits are already suggesting that Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the entire GOP should probably be shaking in their boots right now.
According to CNN, although Gov. Bevin was a troubled candidate who worked to roll back the expansion of the Kentucky Medicaid program and was among the nation’s least popular governors, national Republicans doubled-down and invested everything on him winning. Donald Trump spent Monday night rallying with Bevin in Kentucky. VP Mike Pence spent last week traveling on a tour bus with the first-term governor. Also, the Republican Governors Association spent millions of dollars attempting to bolster Bevin ahead of the polls opening.
For the GOP to throw their entire machine behind Bevin in a state which has remained reliably red for generations and to still lose is indeed a huge wake-up call. Additionally, the continuing trend of slowly watching Virginia turn from Republican red to Democratic blue is indeed troubling for conservatives.
Nevertheless, Republicans are already attempting to spin the Kentucky/Virginia losses as a big, fat nothing burger.
“The President just about dragged Gov. Matt Bevin across the finish line, helping him run stronger than expected in what turned into a very close race at the end,” Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale said in an attempt to explain away Tuesday’s results. However, what Parscale conveniently declined to mention is that Donald Trump personally vouched for Bevin, personally campaigned for Bevin, and personally told the Kentucky rally crowd “Don’t let this happen to ME,” referring to the huge loss he had hoped to avoid.
Granted, Kentucky and Virginia could be a fluke for Democrats. Or, it could be the beginning of the end for Donald Trump and the Republican Party as we know it.

Yes. But only IF the American people who Truly love this country prove it. VOTE!
Let us NOT forget. In 2016 approx 90-100 MILLION eligible voters did NOT vote. Not doubt the majority of them ASSUMED Hillary was going to win anyway so why bother? Well now they know the answer.
Vote. Because It. Matters. Hillary won the popularity vote …decisively. But that *AIN’T* where the votes matter the most. She lost the EC. Trump won. He barley won. But he won.
And believe this – he WILL win again if WE don’t show up in FULL force to vote his corrupt azz Out of OUR White House and send him, his family and his cronies packing.
