Khizr Khan Attacked By Trump
After DNC

Donald Drumpf (yes, that is Trump’s REAL name) is at it again.  This time, he’s picked a fight with the Gold Star parents of a fallen Muslim-American soldier.

Current Events
Khizr Khan and his wife, Ghazala, appeared at last week’s Democratic National Convention to denounce Trump’s proposed Muslim ban should he be elected.  Mr. Khan moved the audience to tears by telling the heroic story of his son, Humayun Khan, who gave the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life in service to his country.

Khizr Khan SON
Capt. Humayun Khan

“We were blessed to raise our three sons in a nation where they were free to be themselves and follow their dreams. Our son, Humayun, had dreams of being a military lawyer. But he put those dreams aside the day he sacrificed his life to save his fellow soldiers,” Khizr Khan said.

“Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son ‘the best of America.’ If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America,” Khizr Khan continued. “Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities — women, judges, even his own party leadership. He vows to build walls and ban us from this country.

“Donald Trump, you are asking Americans to trust you with our future. Let me ask you: Have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. In this document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.’

“Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America — you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities.  You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

Always at the ready with a smart-alecky remark via Twitter, the thin-skinned Trump was initially silent. He wanted so badly to respond and attack, except he didn’t know how to do it without appearing to be a jackass. Then it hit him:  just continue to be a jackass!

Using his standard battleground of choice, Trump tweeted this:

.

Mr. Khan, who does not know me, viciously attacked me from the stage of the DNC and is now all over T.V. doing the same – Nice!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 1, 2016

.

This story is not about Mr. Khan, who is all over the place doing interviews, but rather RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISM and the U.S. Get smart!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 1, 2016

.

Then, Trump took to criticizing the Khans via several TV appearances.

Speaking to ABC’s This Week, he tried to make light of Ghazala Khan’s silence during her husband’s words at the DNC, saying she “wasn’t allowed to have anything to say.” However, Mrs. Khan didn’t speak because it is still too painful for her to discuss her deceased son.

“I was very nervous because I cannot see my son’s picture and I cannot even come in the room where his pictures are, and that’s why when I saw the picture on my back, I couldn’t take it,” she said. “And I controlled myself at that time, so it is very hard.”

Current Events
Sadly, Trump has perpetrated this attack against Ghazala and Khizr Khan for several days, which is odd…even for him. Traditionally, Gold Star parents (those who’ve lost a child during military service) and their families are always honored and revered by both political parties and NEVER EVER treated disrespectfully. However, the rule for Donald Drumpf is that there simply are no rules. Even insulting the family of a fallen military hero is not beneath him.

Right on cue, members of the Republican Party have been tripping over each other to distance themselves from Trump’s Twitter battle against the Khan family.

“America’s greatness is built on the principles of liberty and preserved by the men and women who wear the uniform to defend it,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said in a statement. “As I have said on numerous occasions, a religious test for entering our country is not reflective of these fundamental values. I reject it. Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military and made the ultimate sacrifice. Captain Khan was one such brave example. His sacrifice — and that of Khizr and Ghazala Khan — should always be honored. Period.”

“Capt. Khan was an American hero, and like all Americans, I’m grateful for the sacrifices that selfless young men like Capt. Khan and their families have made in the war on terror,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in his statement. “All Americans should value the patriotic service of the patriots who volunteer to selflessly defend us in the armed services. And as I have long made clear, I agree with the Khans and families across the country that a travel ban on all members of a religion is simply contrary to American values.”

Khizr Khan McCAIN
Sen. John McCain

However, it was Arizona senator and former prisoner of war John McCain who had the most scathing words for the Republican presidential nominee.

“While our Party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us,” McCain said Monday.

“I cannot emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement. I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers, or candidates.

“Captain Khan’s death in Iraq, on June 8th, 2004, was a shining example of the valor and bravery inculcated into our military. When a suicide bomber accelerated his vehicle toward a facility with hundreds of American soldiers, Captain Khan ordered his subordinates away from the danger.  Then he ran toward it.

To the Khan family, McCain added, “I’d like to say to Mr. and Mrs. Khan: thank you for immigrating to America. We’re a better country because of you. And you are certainly right; your son was the best of America, and the memory of his sacrifice will make us a better nation — and he will never be forgotten.

“My sons serve today, and I’m proud of them. My youngest served in the war that claimed Captain Khan’s life as well as in Afghanistan. I want them to be proud of me. I want to do the right thing by them and their comrades,”

Interestingly, the Republican Party is always very quick to denounce the words and deeds of their presidential nominee, yet they are also very quick to continue to support him for president. Except, they seem to want to have it both ways.  How exactly is it possible for them to continuously reject nearly every idea and principle Donald Trump stands for, yet continue to say he’d make a great president???

Hmmm…

How exactly is it possible for them to continuously reject nearly every idea and principle Donald Trump stands for, yet continue to say he’d make a great president??? [….] Easy. The Repubs have absolutely NO shame anymore. And their so-called Conservative "principles"? Long.Gone. Trump is the GOP standard-bearer now. The living and breathing, walking and talking embodiment of ALL that the GOP stands for…and has stood for…since the GOP's cynical and reckless abandon of all sense of decency and civility, intelligence and reason, Equality and seeking solutions together "for good of country" all those many years ago. Trump is no "cancer on Republicanism" as a few conservatives have tried to claim. On the contrary – as one writer put it: "Donald Trump is the natural evolutionary product of Republican platforms and strategies that stretch back to the very origins of modern conservatism in the 1950s and 1960s." Simply put: Trump's… Read more »

Reported a little earlier this morning……. "Republican Rep. Richard Hanna will vote for Clinton" Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) will cast his ballot for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton this November, becoming the first Republican member of Congress to cross party lines and vote directly against Donald Trump. "For me, it is not enough to simply denounce his comments: He is unfit to serve our party and cannot lead this country," Hanna wrote in an op-ed for Syracuse.com published Tuesday. Hanna, a three-term lawmaker who had previously said he could never back Trump, acknowledged long-standing issues with Clinton but noted her commitment on common issues. "Secretary Clinton has issues that depending on where one stands can be viewed as great or small. But she stands and has stood for causes bigger than herself for a lifetime," Hanna wrote. "That matters. Mrs. Clinton has promoted many of the issues I have been committed… Read more »

LOL oh boy DJ you called Drumpf by his 'govment' name. Yeah this whole thing is getting old. There is nothing he will not say or do. It seems like the more he says the more people get used to it so it's not strange to them anymore. He has hit rock bottom but still has people supporting him. Like he said before he could stand on Fifth avenue an shoot somebody and these dummies would still vote for him. I just want the Repubs to stand up and address the facts. How can you keep saying you don't agree with anything he says but still want him elected. Explain that.

Joe Scarborough Calls It: ‘Republicans Aren’t Going To Win The Presidency’ MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Monday declared matter-of-factly that “Republicans aren’t going to win the presidency” with Donald Trump as the party’s nominee and the focus should now be on avoiding huge losses for down-ballot Republicans. “People say if you don't support Donald Trump, then Republicans aren't going to win the presidency. Well, Republicans aren't going to win the presidency,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.” “At this point, and I'm just being a selfish Republican, for me it's about saving the Senate, it’s about not getting wiped out in the House, it’s about not getting wiped out in the state legislatures and governorships,” he continued. “We have a lot to lose.” The former Florida congressman also called on Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), two vulnerable Republicans up for re-election, to “show a little courage” by distancing… Read more »

NRO Reader: It took a year, but the Dems finally found Trump's kryptonite. Trump will always take the bait at ANYONE who trashes him. The Republicans did it wrong as they had their actual candidates attack him, and Trump was able to fight back and belittle them simply because this was an anti-establishment year. What the Dems did was smart, as they are not having Hillary or Kaine attack him personally, they are finding the average person out there to attack him, and Trump will oblige and take the bait. They found a family who lost a soldier and now he and Trump are essentially in a pi**ing match, and the American people are always going to sympathize with a family who lost a loved one in war. Trump: My Position On Keeping Terrorists Out Is What Bothered Khizr Khan In an interview with a local Ohio television station on Monday, Donald Trump said that Khizr Khan was really bothered by his position on border security — specifically his promise to keep radical Islamic terrorists from entering the country. When the interviewer brought up Trump’s position on border security, Trump said, “It’s a very big subject for me. And border security’s very big. And when you have radical Islamic terrorists probably all over the place, we’re allowing them to come in by the thousands and thousands. And I think that’s what bothered Mr. Khan more than anything else. “And, you know, I’m not going to change my views on that. We have radical Islamic terrorists coming in that have to be stopped. We’re taking them in by the thousands.” […] BuzzFeed BF Reader: OK did this mentally deficient… Read more »

BREAKING…….. "Obama says Trump 'unfit' to serve, slams GOP for endorsing him" President Barack Obama on Tuesday called out prominent Republicans for continuing to endorse Donald Trump in his bid for the White House. "I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president. I said so last week and he keeps on proving it," Obama said on Tuesday during a joint press conference with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the White House. Obama said Trump is "woefully underprepared" to be president. "He doesn't appear to have basic knowledge on critical issues in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia," Obama said. Obama said this opinion of Trump is shared by prominent Republicans. "I think what's been interesting is the repeated denunciations of his statements by leading Republicans including the speaker of the House, the Senate majority leader and prominent Republicans like "John McCain" he said. "The… Read more »
