"Obama says Trump 'unfit' to serve, slams GOP for endorsing him"

President Barack Obama on Tuesday called out prominent Republicans for continuing to endorse Donald Trump in his bid for the White House.

"I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president. I said so last week and he keeps on proving it," Obama said on Tuesday during a joint press conference with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the White House.

Obama said Trump is "woefully underprepared" to be president. "He doesn't appear to have basic knowledge on critical issues in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia," Obama said.

Obama said this opinion of Trump is shared by prominent Republicans.

"I think what's been interesting is the repeated denunciations of his statements by leading Republicans including the speaker of the House, the Senate majority leader and prominent Republicans like "John McCain" he said. "The question I think that they have to ask themselves is, if you are repeatedly having to say, in very strong terms, that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?"

At some point, Republicans should realize that Trump has gone too far and that the things he says indicates he "doesn't have the judgment, the temperament the understanding to occupy the most powerful position in the world," Obama said.

While Obama said he has disagreed with former Republican presidents on policy issues, he "didn't have a doubt that they could function as president."

Obama explained that had he lost to Mitt Romney or McCain, he certainly "would have been disappointed," but that he would have conceded and had the confidence that they would "abide by certain norms and rules and common sense, will observe basic decency." […] CNBC

In an interview with a local Ohio television station on Monday, Donald Trump said that Khizr Khan was really bothered by his position on border security — specifically his promise to keep radical Islamic terrorists from entering the country.

When the interviewer brought up Trump’s position on border security, Trump said, “It’s a very big subject for me. And border security’s very big. And when you have radical Islamic terrorists probably all over the place, we’re allowing them to come in by the thousands and thousands. And I think that’s what bothered Mr. Khan more than anything else.

“And, you know, I’m not going to change my views on that. We have radical Islamic terrorists coming in that have to be stopped. We’re taking them in by the thousands.” […] BuzzFeed

BF Reader:
OK did this mentally deficient teletubby just suggest that the reason Mr Khan doesn't like him is because Trump want's to stop terrorists coming into america? Is that the implication here because that's how I'm reading it and I really need someone to tell me that this walking douchebag with a anus for a mouth didn't just suggest that the father of a dead soldier is upset that there won't be more terrorists. […]

BF Reader:
Yes he did. "Donald Trump said that Khizr Khan was really bothered by his position on border security — specifically his promise to keep radical Islamic terrorists from entering the country." I don't think he is going to get out of this one. IMO he is freaking out and in so doing is continueing to strike out at the Khans. He is not used to the blowback and you know he is actually quite fragile psychologically. His true self is showing through more and more. (Thank goodness!) […]

As much as I can't stand Clinton, she's absolutely right about this asshat – a man you can bait with a tweet is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons. […]

It took a year, but the Dems finally found Trump's kryptonite. Trump will always take the bait at ANYONE who trashes him. The Republicans did it wrong as they had their actual candidates attack him, and Trump was able to fight back and belittle them simply because this was an anti-establishment year.

What the Dems did was smart, as they are not having Hillary or Kaine attack him personally, they are finding the average person out there to attack him, and Trump will oblige and take the bait. They found a family who lost a soldier and now he and Trump are essentially in a pi**ing match, and the American people are always going to sympathize with a family who lost a loved one in war. […]

NRO Reader:
Donald Trump is an effete, draft-dodging coward who has already defamed POW's as not being as "heroic" as he is. Now, he doubles down on his defamation by insulting a fallen soldier.

No, the REAL men in the GOP are the cowards, the draft dodgers. Take a look at the big mouths – Donald Trump (bone spurs in his foot), Rush Limbaugh (dodged the draft because he had a cyst on his fat azz), and Bill O'Reilly. The three loudmouth cowards in the tub.

Notice, too, that these "though guys" all pussied out from serving their country, and actually SHOWING that they had guts by facing the enemy, ALL love to insult women, and act tough by picking on them – but they run away from having to face men.

Notice that Trump has had three wives, Limbaugh four, Gingrich (another big mouth Trump supporter) three. O'Reilly had one wife who divorced him, and his children hate him so much they testified on behalf of their mother against their wife-beating father.

EVERY DAY of the election, Mike Pence and the rest of the party are going to have to debase themselves again and again, "explaining away" another of Trump's outrages. Get used to it – you already sold your souls to the Cheetoh Devil, and he's going to make you suffer EVERY DAY.

God bless Trump – he showed more clearly what pieces of Scheisse each and every one of his supporters is – and he is the Scheisseführer himself. […]

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Monday declared matter-of-factly that “Republicans aren’t going to win the presidency” with Donald Trump as the party’s nominee and the focus should now be on avoiding huge losses for down-ballot Republicans.

“People say if you don't support Donald Trump, then Republicans aren't going to win the presidency. Well, Republicans aren't going to win the presidency,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.”

“At this point, and I'm just being a selfish Republican, for me it's about saving the Senate, it’s about not getting wiped out in the House, it’s about not getting wiped out in the state legislatures and governorships,” he continued. “We have a lot to lose.”

The former Florida congressman also called on Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), two vulnerable Republicans up for re-election, to “show a little courage” by distancing themselves from Trump.

Asked later on in the morning news show if he really believes Republicans will lose the White House, Scarborough replied, “without a doubt.”

Trump “lacks the discipline” to win and the campaign is “not doing what is required to win,” he said, pointing to the robust data infrastructure that was critical to President Obama’s win in 2008. [….] TalkingPointsMemo
