KIDNAPPING IN HAITI?

Spread The Love
Haitians Struggle For Food And Shelter Amidst Vast Devastation
Ten American missionaries from a Baptist church in Idaho face a plethora of criminal “human trafficking” charges, after attempting to fly 33 Haitian children illegally out of the disaster-stricken nation.

Members of the Central Valley Baptist Church in Meridian, Idaho, traveled to Haiti on a self-imposed mission, they say, to save orphaned children. According to their plan, they intended to fly orphans out of Haiti and into the waiting arms of loving families in the Dominican Republic, saving them from the devastation left behind and providing them with food, shelter, and a new family in a new country.  But not only were these missionaries without any paperwork or legal records to facilitate adoptions or the transport of Haitian children across foreign borders, some of the children were reportedly kicking and screaming that they already had parents and were not orphans.

For many years, sex trafficking has been rampant in Haiti.  And since the earthquake, Haiti has become a virtual paradise for pedophiles looking to do something far more sinister than just assist people in need.  So, questioning the motives of the missionaries is not necessarily out of the norm.  Georg Willeit, who runs the SOS Children’s Village outside Port-au-Prince said “As far as we know they [the missionary children] would have been, I say it clearly, sold for $10,000 each. That’s what one of the policemen told us. Every child was very desperate, hungry, thirsty. They all were in a bad condition.”  And Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive has directly called the missionaries “kidnappers,” although they claim they were just trying to help orphans and “do the right thing.”  Here’s what others in the media had to say:

“With up to one million orphaned children in Haiti, this is no time to let a fear of bureaucracy prevent good Samaritans from lending a hand.
~ Will Heaven, THE DAILY TELEGRAPH

“The missionaries may just be well-intentioned fools for Jesus, but they might have had some darker motive. It wouldn’t be the first time ‘religious fundamentalists’ tried to capitalize on a disaster to pull a fast one.”
~ Arthur G. Broadhurst, ALTERNET

“You can’t fault this Christian group for its natural impulse to save children. But impetuously swooping in and snatching children is no solution; in chaos like this, would-be rescuers are bound to scoop up ‘orphans’ whose parents have actually survived.”
~ Deb Barry, SAVE THE CHILDREN

“Debating when adoption becomes abduction is the last thing the ill-equipped, understaffed Haitian government should be tackling. This overblown international incident could derail the daunting chore of caring for the one million left homeless by the quake.”
~ Matthew Clark, THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR

Okay here's my 2 cents on this mess:Well intentioned or NOT(?)..I find it most disturbing that those "missionaries" were in such a hurry to gather up children and take off for WHO KNOWS WHERE? _they didn't even bother to find out whether or NOT the children were indeed "orphans"_NOR did they seek the LEGAL authority to leave with ANY of the children! So umm_THIS is what passes for "missionary" work these days?! No. NOT where I come from_SMH.

NOW THIS JUST REALLY PISSED ME OFF. I HAD NO IDEA. EVEN "IF" YOU SAY YOUR TRYING TO HELP THERE ARE STILL RULES, LAWS, FAMILIES, METHODS.THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GO BACK TO IDAHO AND MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS!!!!!

I cannot for the life of me believe for one minute that a group of God-fearing White Christians, would travel all the way to Haiti just to kidnap some poor black children. Makes absolutely no sense. The government and others should stop jumping to conclusions and let some good happen in this world.

I gotta agree with Truth and Anon. There is something real fishy going on here. Like Anon said what ever happened to laws?

BS:"I cannot for the life of me believe for one minute that a group of God-fearing White Christians, would travel all the way to Haiti just to kidnap some poor black children. Makes absolutely no sense."You're right_UNLESS their motives were $ini$ter?! In that case, it would make absolute sense. Those "White Christians" by-passed thousands of Black-American orphans (without so much as a side-glance) to go to Haiti and "save" a bunch of Haitian "orphans" (which by the way 22 of the 33 children aren't orphans at all) having NO legal authority to do so. It really boggles the mind_smh. Whatever the Truth is, I hope the authorities get to the botttom of it SOON.
