King Charles III of Great Britain has shut down his official duties effective immediately after being diagnosed with cancer.

According to an official announcement from Buckingham Palace on Monday, doctors discovered an undisclosed form of cancer while King Charles was undergoing a procedure for an enlarged prostate. The palace added that the diagnosis was not prostate cancer and that the 75-year-old sovereign began cancer treatments immediately.
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted,” the palace said in a statement. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.
“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual,” the palace continued. “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
The King Charles cancer news was shocking for many reasons.
He has only been the monarch for just over a year after succeeding his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022. Although Prince William has spent his entire life being groomed to one day ascend to the throne (should King Charles be unable to remain in the role), Princess Catherine (William’s wife) has undergone her own serious health scare with a recent surgery for an undisclosed ailment that will sideline her for weeks. If that wasn’t enough, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle have been ostracized from the royal family after alleged racism against the biracial Markle and questions from the royals about how “dark” their children might turn out to be.
Needless to say, health and family rifts have taken a huge toll on the royal family. In fact, it’s not a stretch to surmise that should King Charles be forced to abdicate the throne due to health reasons and should Princess Catherine’s health concerns continue to prevent her from participating in royal duties, Prince William could be the sole royal left standing to represent the royal family. Or, he could even become king sooner than he expected.

The news comes just over a week after both the king and his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate, were discharged from a private London clinic after medical procedures. Charles underwent a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate, while Kate, 42, had planned abdominal surgery for a noncancerous condition.
Charles’ eldest son is now expected to step up to carry out some duties on behalf of his father while the monarch undergoes treatment for cancer. The Prince of Wales is resuming his royal duties this week, his office said, after having to postpone them while his wife was undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, British tabloids reported that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, was due to arrive back in the country Tuesday after he was spotted at LAX.
A source close to the prince and his wife, Meghan, told NBC News Monday that Harry spoke to his father about the diagnosis.
“He will be traveling to the U.K. to see His Majesty in the coming days,” the source said.
It comes at a time when Harry’s relationship with his father and brother is reported to be strained after he and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020, and Harry’s deeply personal disclosures released in his memoir last year.
It is truly amazing how life can throw you curve balls that you never SEE coming…until they hit you!
All of the nonsense that’s been playing out in front of the whole world, about the Royal family, pales in comparison to what their family may be facing now!
And Harry may actually end being a Rock for the entire family.
Most of the British News media (mainstream and tabloid) are Notoriously racist. James O’Brien (British radio and podcast) tears into them every chance he gets!
But now is the time that Prince William will probably need his brother more than he ever has before in his life!

The news Harry is flying there today to be with Charles made me think it could be more serious then they are letting on. That family has a lot to fix. Maybe this can be what brings them back together.
