KLM: LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Spread The Love

Have you ever made eye contact with an attractive someone while boarding a flight and hoped against hope that you’d somehow be seated next to them, only to end up sitting beside a crying baby, or some slob who takes up the entire armrest and keeps falling asleep on your shoulder?  Well, one airline says it has the solution to your problem.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will take the mile-high experience to new levels with a blind-dating concept that will allow customers to pick their seat mate via Facebook. The new “meet and seat” service will link travelers’ Facebook and LinkedIn profiles to their check-in information. Travelers will then be able to check out their fellow passengers on board and select who they wish to sit next to based on similar interests or even physical attraction.

For example, a young woman seeking a husband could potentially sit next to a man seeking a wife. A gay male could choose to sit next to another gay male for a potential romantic connection. Or an elderly man could make sure he’s seated next to another elderly man, where both could catch some undisturbed sleep.  It’s the perfect opportunity to create the perfect flying experience.

Both parties would have to approve of the other before the seating arrangement would be confirmed, or they could leave the choice up to the airline based on mutual interests. KLM says the service will be available to all passengers checking in online beginning next year, when traveler’s will be given the option whether or not to make their social media profiles publicly available.
