Legitimate playoff basketball has returned to New York!
After what turned into a veritable circus and took an eternity to complete, the Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement to send Carmelo Anthony to his preferred destination to play for the New York Knicks. Included with Carmelo, the Nuggets will also send former NBA finals MVP Chauncey Billups, former Knick Renaldo Balkman, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter, in exchange for Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, and Timofey Mozgov. As part of the deal, the Knicks also shipped Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph to Minneapolis, receiving Corey Brewer and a Minneapolis 1st round draft pick in return.
With this deal complete, it’s almost inevitable that All-Stars Chris Paul of the Hornets and Deron Williams of the Jazz (both of whom will become free agents next year) will attempt to join Amare’ and Carmelo in the Big Apple. Then the Knicks would be simply dangerous!
After learning of the trade, Nuggets coach George Karl said, “I’m glad its over. I’m glad it’s an opportunity to reinvent. I think everybody handled it as classy as you could handle it. There’s some sadness to it, there always will be.”
Most sports analysts are calling the Knicks trade a monster move, saying a tandem of Amare’ Stoudamire, Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups will lift the Knicks into being one of the top 3 elite teams in the eastern conference. Not only will they be fun to watch, but the Knicks vs. Heat could become the regular battle to reach the NBA Finals.

However, setting that aside: I say CONGRATS to the New York Knicks and their fans!Note: Some folks are complaining that this (elite players) deciding where they want to play.
