Last week when President Obama stepped smack into the middle of a local Boston brouhaha between Cambridge Police Sergeant James Crowley and Harvard University Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., he had no idea what he was getting himself into. His 55 minute press conference on Health Care was quickly forgotten and all focus was put on the final question of the evening involving the Sergeant and the Professor. Once the situation blew up into a national lead story, President Obama needed to act quickly in order to extinguish the flaming embers of racial innuendo. His solution? Invite Professor Gates, Sergeant Crowley and their families to the White House for an opportunity to forgive and forget — or for what President Obama has called “to have a beer.”

Well today is that day. The Gates and Crowley families will all convene sometime today at the White House to meet with the President, tour the White House, have a meal, and yes, have a beer. After stirring the pot a bit with his off the cuff remarks regarding the Boston situation, President Obama is determined to squelch all animosity attached to this story, and get everyone back to regular life.
Ya know_lol.I'm thinking, more often than NOT, Pres. Obama really can't believe some of the media-driven BS he asctually MUST navigate and contend with!?!But this has been a lesson for him too. He allowed Lynne Sweet to highjack his Healthcare Reform press confernce with her NON-related question AT. THE. VERY. END. Obama is Highly intelligent and a fast-learner. I'll expect him to be quicker in assessing for possible mine-fields BEFORE he gets sucked in going forward in the future.
