Late Night with Seth Meyers
Look out late night — “Saturday Night Live” head writer and host of its “Weekend Update” sketch Seth Meyers, will be the new host of NBC’s “Late Night” in 2014.
NBC officially made the announcement over the weekend, promoting Myers to its late night talk show slot when Jimmy Fallon moves up as host of “The Tonight Show.” Jay Leno will leave “The Tonight Show” during the 2014 Winter Olympics, which is when Fallon will replace Leno and Myers will replace Fallon.
“Saturday Night Live” creator and producer Lorne Michaels will executive produce “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” as well as “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Both shows will be taped at NBC’s Rockefeller Center in New York City, marking the first time “The Tonight Show” has not originated from Burbank, CA in more than 40 years.
“Late Night” first aired in 1982 with host David Letterman. When Letterman left for CBS, Conan O’Brien took over the show, followed by Jimmy Fallon and now Seth Myers.
“We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt said in the official announcement.
