Legalize Abortion Is On Biden’s 2023 Agenda

Spread The Love

President Biden wants to legalize abortion and make a woman’s right to choose what’s best for her own body (once again) the law of the land.

Politics :
In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, the president offered congressional Democrats a deal: hold onto the House and Senate and he’ll legalize abortion without the possibility of states repealing it to appease conservative agendas.

Legalize Abortion

“Congressional Republicans are doubling down on their extreme positions,” Mr. Biden said during a Democratic National Committee event in Washington. “Kevin McCarthy, the Republican leader of the House, has said that if they take control of the House, our work is ‘far from done.’ He wants the United States Congress to pass a law that would ban abortion nationwide.

“I want you to remember that the final say does not rest in the court now. It does not rest with extremist Republicans in Congress,” the president continued. “Your right to choose rests with you, and if you do your part and vote, Democratic leaders of Congress, I promise you, will do our part. I will do my part.”

President Biden added that his plans are contingent on Democrats holding the US House of Representatives and increasing their majority in the US Senate, which would be required to prevent pushback from Republicans.

According to POLITICO, the president’s message was designed to reignite the anger of women and other voters after the US Supreme Court killed Roe v Wade this past summer. He’s predicting (read: hopeful) that there will be a massive surge of voter participation in the midterms that will make it possible to legalize abortion again. He’s also wanting to remind voters that if the GOP is handed the reigns of Congress, they have already boldly announced their intentions to dial back or outright remove rights that protect contraception and same-sex marriage.

President Biden’s promise to legalize abortion is a tall order, considering Democrats would have to win big in November. Of course, Republicans would rather not discuss abortion and are hopeful US voters will forget the issue when they cast their ballot.

Stay tuned…

Pres. Biden’s promise notwithstanding – over the last 30years, Democrat leadership had ample opportunities (during Presidents Clinton and Obama’s presidencies) to codify Roe v. Wade and they DIDN’T do it.

Why? Why didn’t the Dems do it?

Because clearly “They” (mostly men) didn’t consider it a priority!

And you see – this is one of those critical issues that make women like Me look at the Democrat party and shake my head in absolute disgust!

Going back to Clinton’s presidency, Dem leadership has NOT fought for anything except saving their own sorry hides/positions. And to their shame, they’ve gotten steam-rolled by the Repub leadership so many times it makes my hair hurt! Yes, I said “hair.”

This time, their utter Failure has led to millions of women and young girls across this entire nation having to pay the price for that failure!

Will Biden’s promise make an actual difference in terms of garnering more votes for the Dems?

Yes, but to what degree? (minimal or significant)

Well…We shall see,

I had to come back and also add this…….

Women are also to blame for this collosal Failure. I would posit that WE are the ones who are most to blame!

For so long WE took it for granted that the Right to choose – a hard fought for Right – would always be there. WE didn’t fully appreciate the YEARS of blood, sweat. tears and hard work it took to be granted that Right.

WE became complacent about this critical issue, in particular, and now look at where WE are today…smh!

Wil

Everybody is taking democracy for granted too and now look where we are.

And let the Church say AMEN!

CNN: Democrats looking to hold onto their control of power in Washington don’t have much time to get the message right. With just three weeks before the November election, there are new signs of high voter interest. Early voting numbers suggest that turnout in some parts of the country could be on pace to match 2018, a year that had exceptionally high participation for a recent midterm election. It is still too early to tell which party is benefiting most from higher voter engagement, although polling suggests Republicans have an edge in terms of voter enthusiasm as economic concerns are the dominant issue in voters’ lives. This has been an election propelled by opposing messages – Republicans are driving hard on inflation and crime, while Democrats are talking about abortion and, in a defensive posture, starring in their own ads with police officers. Threats to American democracy – top of… Read more »

The truth is, IF the Dems haven’t got their message “right” by now, they’re NOT going to get their message right…smh!

Mr.BD

Something about this does not add up. If he was trying to legalize abortion why does he have to wait and not do it now? Even if the Dems hold congress there is not going to be a big difference from what they have now. Does he expect a big win or is he just talking politics?

Truthiz1

He’s trying to hang onto the majority in both the Senate and the House.

But I see your point BD and it’s a great point, unless I’m missing something too!?!

So let’s see- that makes Clinton, Obama and now Biden. All 3 of them Failed to do the right thing to protect the reproductive rights of Women (and young girls) in this country when each man had the power and opportunity to do so.

Shame on all 3 of them!
