Losing a Leader and an Icon
Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain, passed away yesterday after a long illness as the result of a stroke. Mrs. Thatcher was a staunch conservative and a powerful and important ally of former president Ronald Reagan, but she was also a polarizing figure within the United Kingdom.
Known as “The Iron Lady,” Mrs. Thatcher served as prime minister from 1979 to 1990. Her friendship with President Reagan was so solid, that she ignored doctor’s orders and traveled across the Atlantic to attend his funeral in 2004.
Margaret Thatcher was 87.
Annette Funicello, one of the original Disney “Mouseketeers” died yesterday.
Funicello will always be remembered as the bubbly 12-year-old who won the hearts of America while wearing mouse ears, as well as her older years as a beach front beauty in a number of movies that often featured fellow Mouseketeer Frankie Avalon.
Annette Funicello suffered from multiple sclerosis for 25 years, until her passing yesterday. She was 70.

When Mrs. Thatcher was PM of Great Britain, I was still too young to have given a darn about politics and policies, here or abroad. However, a few years ago, I decided to do a bit of research on her. And I was most interested in how she's generally viewed by the British people…what's their verdict, if you will, of her time in office?
An article posted in the UK Guardian yesterday seems to sums up what I found:
"Supporters say she saved the UK; detractors say she made it unbalanced and unequal. The truth is somewhere in between."

Just a little FYI regarding the Mickey Mouse Club…
As per Wikipedia:
The Mickey Mouse Club aired intermittently from 1955 to 1996.
It was first televised from 1955 to 1960 by ABC, featuring a regular but ever-changing cast of child performers. The series was revived, reformatted and reimagined after its initial 1955–1960 run on ABC, first in 1977 to 1979 for first-run syndication, and again, from 1989 to 1996 on The Disney Channel. […]

I owe my entire political obsession to the one person sitting in the White House (as "Prezdent") who's DUMB enough to have been played by Cheney (war profiteer) and the Neocons (warmongering zionist nutjobs) which led to untold numbers of deaths and traumatic injuries and caused Our near total economic destruction.
George DUBYA Bush.
