Malaysia Airlines MH370 Found?

BREAKING NEWS: More aircraft debris, including a plane window and seat cushions, has been found on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which disappeared out of the sky on March 8, 2014, has been located — or has it? Apparently, some family members don’t think so.

According to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, the piece of aircraft debris that washed up on the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion last week, is in fact from the missing Malaysian Airlines flight.

Malaysia Airlines Prime Minister“Today, 515 days since the plane disappeared, it is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts has conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370,” Mr Najib told reporters. “We now have physical evidence that, as I announced on 24th March last year, flight MH370 tragically ended in the southern Indian Ocean.”

The recovered portion of the Boeing 777’s wing is called a flaperon and was analyzed by experts in the presence of French, Malaysian, Chinese and American representatives. The wing, as well as a fragment of suitcase also found on the island, were subjected to forensic examination and positively determined to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

Malaysa Airlines wingMr Najib’s announcement was expected to be the end to an agonizing wait for families of the 239 passengers and crew who seemed to vanish into thin air on the missing flight. However, the discovery of a wing portion thousands of miles off course has only raised further questions by family members regarding their missing loves ones. Many harbor deep suspicion towards the Malaysian government and even suspect a cover-up.  They believe the flaperon could have been placed on the island to create the illusion the plane crashed.

“Now I want to know where the main body of the plane is so that we can take out the passengers and get the black box so we can know what happened,” Jacquita Gonzales, wife of Malaysia Airlines MH370 chief steward Patrick Gomes, said. “Only that, for us, will be full closure.”

“I don’t believe this latest information about the plane, they have been lying to us from the beginning,” said Zhang Yongli, whose daughter was on board. “I know my daughter is out there, but they won’t tell us the truth.”

Bao Lanfang, whose grandson was on the plane said, “Everyone has been lying to us”, before collapsing on the floor and crying. “I will do anything to see him again,” the 63-year-old added through her tears. “Just tell me what I need to do, I’ll do it”.

“I’m still not satisfied. There are still so many questions left unanswered, so many holes in the puzzle,” Lee Khim Fatt said, whose wife, Foong Wai Yueng was a flight attendant. “Until today we have no answers. Don’t just show me a flaperon. Show me more. Answer the questions.”

Family members don’t want a flaperon from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight. They want the fuselage and the bodies of their loved ones recovered. They also want the black box to determine exactly what caused the plane to crash. Until that happens, several family members will continue to believe in a conspiracy theory and a possible cover-up: that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 never crashed at all, but was hijacked with its passengers kidnapped and somewhere still alive.

Prime Minister Najib responded to claims from the families.

“I would like to assure all those affected by this tragedy that the government of Malaysia is committed to do everything within our means to find out the truth of what happened,” he said. “We expect and hope that there would be more objects to be found which would be able to help solve this mystery,”

What caused the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft to inexplicably divert on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014? Is the discovered wing portion of the plane enough evidence that the flight crashed and is somewhere in the Indian Ocean? Or are family members correct to assume the Malaysian government is involved in a cover-up and their loved ones are still alive?
