Marriage equality is now officially the law of the land.

After a bipartisan bill protecting same-sex and interracial marriages made it through Congress, President Biden made it all official with a White House signing ceremony earlier this week.
The Respect for Marriage Act replaces the former Defense of Marriage Act and requires all 50 states to honor and acknowledge marriages of all genders and ethnicities.
“For most of our nation’s history, we denied interracial couples and same-sex couples from these protections,” Mr. Biden said. “It failed to treat them with equal dignity and respect. And now, this law requires an interracial marriage and same-sex marriage must be recognized as legal in every state in the nation.”
