Discussions concerning religion (any religion) is tricky business because (similar to politics) it carries the risk of unintentionally setting off a firestorm among participants if not handled with a real degree of respect for such a sensitive topic and civility between participants.

Suffice it to say that I am not now, nor have I ever been, Catholic. So I sincerely appreciate hearing from Catholics (former and current) on this topic because you bring first-hand knowledge and a perspective to the table that I do not have.

Because as soon as one or two more generations die the catholic church is going to be in trouble. Young men aren't interested in becoming a priest no more so who is going to run things in the next fifty years? They might have to start letting married men and even women become priests. I grew up catholic and my old church back home doesn't even have a priest anymore. They can't find one and that is sad. I left catholic behind because it is outdated and a lot of other people are leaving it too.
