Everything appears to be going from bad to worse for Matt Gaetz. Or, to put it bluntly, he’s screwed!

Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida is the subject of a damning congressional investigation after allegations revealed his involvement in a sordid sex scandal including drugs, sharing photos with congressional colleagues of naked women, and paying for sex with underage females.
On Friday, the House ethics committee opened an investigation and said in a statement it is aware that Gaetz may have engaged in “sexual misconduct and/or illicit drug use, shared inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misused state identification records, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted a bribe, improper gratuity, or impermissible gift, in violation of House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct.”
Speaking to a small crowd in Florida on Friday, the 38-year-old Matt Gaetz denied all allegations and claimed he is the victim of an attempted extortion plot.
“Big government, big tech, big business, big media – they’d all breathe a sigh of relief if I were no longer in the Congress fighting for you,” he said.
Too bad for Gaetz, but his house of cards may soon come crumbling down.
Not only has the congressional ethics committee learned that Gaetz requested (and was denied) a blanket pardon from Donald Trump for unspecified “potential” crimes, but Gaetz’s friend and money man, Joel Greenberg, is expected to plead guilty to sex trafficking charges any day now — and drag Matt Gaetz down with him as an active and willing participant.
During Donald Trump’s days in The White House, Matt Gaetz was royalty as a ReTrumplican flunkie for ‘The Donald.’ He willingly did Trump’s bidding and expected his loyalty would one day pay off for him in dividends. Gaetz personally took on fellow GOP Rep. Liz Cheney after she voted to impeach Donald Trump for his role in the January 6th attack on the US Capitol. He even took his pro-Trump sideshow to Cheney’s state of Wyoming and publicly mocked her on the steps of the state capital for daring to go against ‘The Donald’ in an attempt to ruin her chances of remaining in Congress.
Now, the tables have turned. Despite being a MAGA court jester, Gaetz didn’t secure the blanket pardon he craved from Donald Trump. Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois is now publicly mocking Gaetz and calling for his resignation. And, it looks as if Gaetz’s (and not Liz Cheney’s) days are the ones numbered in Congress.
Oh well, Matt Gaetz. It appears karma is having its way. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
CNN:
Rep. Matt Gaetz, who’s facing a federal investigation into sex trafficking allegations, was recently denied a meeting with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate as the ex-President and his allies continue to distance themselves from the Florida congressman.
Two people familiar with the matter said Gaetz tried to schedule a visit with Trump after it was first revealed that he was being investigated, but the request was rejected by aides close to the former President, who have urged Trump not to stick his neck out to defend Gaetz.
