Midterm Election Update: Time To Vote!
It’s voting day in America, which means it’s time to go vote and time for an OK WASSUP! midterm election update.
Politics :
First things first: if you haven’t already participated in early voting, stop what you’re doing NOW and go to your local polling place to vote. Go online if you need to find the location of your local polling place. You can also find information online regarding the candidates and any special voting initiatives you might encounter. Â
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO… but GO VOTE!
Now, let’s take a look at what’s going on across America in our midterm election update.
ELECTION MONITORING:
The US Justice Department is dispatching election monitors to 24 select states that have been deemed potentially “problematic.”
According to ABC News, civil rights groups and the federal government have sounded the alarm over potential voter intimidation at certain polling spots. The decision is also to get ahead of expected claims of voter fraud by Donald Trump and his MAGA group.
The election monitors will include non-partisan lawyers from the department’s civil rights division, as well as US attorney’s offices across the United States.
The Justice Dept. will particularly keep an eye on Maricopa County, Arizona, where there have been reports of armed citizens watching ballot boxes — as well as Cole County, Missouri, where local elections officials threatened to block government monitors.
KEEP AN EYE OPEN
During this 2022 midterm election update, several races are critical in determining control of the US Senate and the potential loss of democracy.
Keep an eye on the US Senate race in Georgia, where incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock is running statistically neck-and-neck with Republican challenger Hershell Walker.
Stay focused on the US Senate race in Pennsylvania as well, which, according to FiveThirtyEight.com is also neck-and-neck between Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Mehmet Oz.
The race for governor in Georgia (GOP Gov. Brian Kemp vs. Democrat Stacy Abrams), Florida (GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis vs. Democrat Charlie Crist), and New York (Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul vs. GOP challenger Lee Zeldin) will also be interesting to watch.
HERE COMES TRUMP?
Get ready, America. We may be in for Donald Trump Part 2.
According to The New York Times, Donald Trump is expected to announce his candidacy for president as early as this week.
Trump reportedly has been waiting for the midterm elections to take place before formally proceeding with his candidacy. However, rumor has it that Trump only waited to see who would win in the midterm election update so he’d know if “his” people would be in place to cheat the vote in his favor in 2024.
Stay tuned…
OK WASSUP! discusses Politics:
It’s time for the midterm election update 2022.
I voted early via mail-in ballot but thanks DJ for this public service post!
Once again, my home state of Pennsylvania is in the thick of it, along with my home-away-from home state of Georgia..smh!
I feel confident that Shapiro will probably win the governor’s race in my home state. I’m a little less confident about Fetterman defeating Oz. But I still think Fetterman has a good chance.
I’m certainly going to be paying close attention to how accurate the pre-election polls were, when all the results are in, since CNN and MSNBC can’t seem to function without them!
