Once upon a time, the Ku Klux Klan wore white sheets over their heads and hid behind the reality of their own identity. But nowadays, the Klan walks the streets among us, in suit and tie, unknown and unrecognized. Surprisingly, this same trend is starting to happen among America’s Militia groups.
Militia groups are home grown citizens who carry a strong dislike and distrust for the US government. They are traditionally conservative, Republican, racist, but (in their minds) deeply Christian. They’ve somehow convinced themselves their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and protect themselves is in jeopardy, so they’ve armed themselves for an assumed upcoming war against the government to fight for rights they somehow believe they’re losing. President Obama has never said he wishes to appeal the 2nd Amendment and has in fact openly said the opposite on numerous occasions. To even try would be at best, a foolish mistake and at worse, political suicide. Still, these militia groups remain skeptical and are rallying and preparing for battle in record numbers.
The Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia is one such group fixing for a fight by collecting members, rhetoric and arms. But, they say they differ from most militia groups because they are not separatists. According to them, they do not discriminate based on race, religion, or sexual orientation and they are not violent. However, the need for their existence and right to bear arms in a country that is not threatening to them is a mystery. Should the rest of us be preparing for this inexplicable ghost war too? CNN’s Rick Sanchez caught up with one member of the Michigan militia, who provided a brief look into the mysterious world of America’s militia’s. WATCH:
I have to say: When I look at the intellectual and personality types of today’s right-wing militias, I am reminded that: A “mind” is indeed a terrible thing to waste _OR_ to NOT have in the first place_smh.The truth is, right-wing militias have been around since long BEFORE the election of Obama to the Presidency. But TRUE, his election certainly agitated their already DISTURBED state of mind_which brings me to what I believe is the actual primary impulse (if you will) driving the extreme thoughts and behaviors of most_if not ALL_militia members and the like: PARANOID DELUSIONS with violent tendencies. In short: They see “bogeymen” and other perceived “threats” everywhere. Their obsession with “the enemy” and their love for LOTS and LOTS of guns and other assorted weaponry is typical of life in “their” world.
