‘MITT-WIT’ ON FOREIGN SOIL

Spread The Love

It looks as if Mitt Romney’s international trip meant to display his foreign policy skills and readiness for the presidency isn’t going so well.

First, Romney insulted the Brits by questioning if they were “ready” to play host to the 2012 Olympic Games. Now, Romney has insulted another group with comments that are being called racist.

Yesterday, Romney told Jewish donors in Israel that their culture is part of what has allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians, a comment that has outraged Palestinian leaders who say his comments were racist and out of touch with the realities of the Middle East.

“It is a racist statement and this man doesn’t realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation,” said Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. “It seems to me this man lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people,” Erekat added. “He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves. I have not heard any Israeli official speak about cultural superiority.”

The Romney campaign said his remarks about Palestine were “mischaracterized,” just as they said he was “misunderstood” regarding his Olympic remarks. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped Mitt from putting his foot in his mouth and becoming the brunt of jokes and an object of ridicule.

So, way to go, Mitt… your first impression on the world stage may not be pulling in the hundreds of thousands just to hear you speak as Mr. Obama did 4 years ago, but it sure is panning out to be “memorable!”

When you consider that THIS is the "best" presidential candidate the Repubs have to offer it really is an indictment of just how far that party has fallen. Quite stunning. Having said that: First: I believe Mitt and his people knew excatly what they were doing when Romney applauded Isreali culture at the expense of dissing the Palestinian culture. Mitt's "Jewish" donors were mostly rich Jewish-AMERICAN ZIONISTS who just *happened* to be visiting Isreal at the SAME time of Mitt's visit/sarc. 2nd: It's NO secret of the UNholy alliance that exist between American Christian-fundamentalists" (a huge voting block for the Repubs) and the Jewish people, in particular, AMERICAN Jewish Zionists. I don't know how anybody can take this guy serious in the end. Look back four years ago when Obama was like a rock star in Europe, now Romney is over there looking like a fool.
