When George Zimmerman was remanded back to jail last week, little did he know a very close member of his family would soon be joining him — his wife!
Shellie Zimmerman was arrested yesterday following a court determination that she lied under oath regarding the assets both she and her husband shared. George Zimmerman, who shot and killed Trayvon Martin 4 months ago, was originally released from jail on an extremely low $150,000 bond, based mostly on Mrs. Zimmerman’s testimony that she and her husband were financially insolvent. However, the Zimmerman’s neglected to tell the court they had collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in Internet donations — information that would have certainly made George Zimmerman’s bail much higher.
The court learned that in the days prior to her testimony, Shellie Zimmerman transferred $74,000 in 8 smaller amounts ranging from $7,500 to $9,990, from her husband’s credit union account to hers. $47,000 was also transferred from George Zimmerman’s account to his sister’s just before the bond hearing. But 4 days after he was released on bond, Shellie Zimmerman transferred more than $85,500 from her account into her husband’s account. The arrest affidavit also said that jail call records prove George Zimmerman instructed his wife to “pay off all the bills,” including an American Express and Sam’s Club card.
Shellie Zimmerman’s lying to the court is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. She was released yesterday on a $1,000 bond pending trial.
In other words, Zimmerman and his wife were made for each other…/snark.What a pair…smh.
