Now that the full report has been released to the general public, it’s clear the Mueller Probe was not designed to be a slam-dunk impeachment tool against Donald Trump. However, a better surprise is that the report is rife with secret gems for smart 2020 Democrats to use to their advantage.

When the Mueller Probe began, many within the anti-Trump movement expected the final report to lead to the immediate impeachment of Donald Trump. However, it’s time to recognize and accept that that’s just not going to happen for the following reasons:
- It’s too late in Trump’s term to remove him from office.
- Impeachment proceedings could take a year… or more.
- Republicans in Congress are not on board.
- An attempt to remove Trump from office could backfire on Democrats.
- A few months (or 8 years) of President Pence could be worse.

At this point, impeachment is not and should not be a viable option. Instead, if Democrats are smart, they could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
Utilizing their powerful control of the US House of Representatives, Democrats hold the “Trump Card” (pun intended) to investigate Donald Trump all the way into the 2020 presidential election. They can call star players from the Mueller Probe to testify before House committees. They can subpoena Trump’s tax returns that he’s too terrified to show. They can ignite an emoluments clause violation against Trump for accepting money from foreign governments through stays at his Washington hotel and Mar-A-Lago Resort. Or, to put it another way, they can make Donald Trump’s last days in office such a living hell, that the country is left anxious to kick Trump AND Pence out of The White House for good!
Impeaching and removing Donald Trump from office would leave Mike Pence to run the country. However, it would also leave Mike Pence the option to issue a presidential pardon to “The Donald” as he leaves office, exonerating him of all the crimes the Mueller Probe revealed.
That would be catastrophic.
Instead, the very best political ploy for 2020 Democrats is to actually keep Trump in office for the 18 months he has left of his term. Hold his feet to the fire. Turn the nation against him. Allow the Southern District of New York and the nearly 14 other state agencies to prosecute Trump for all of his and his family’s misdeeds. Then, boot him out of office in 2020 and end our national nightmare.
Then, when President (insert Democratic name here) takes the oath of office, use the hidden gems inside the Mueller Probe to prosecute the hell out of Donald Trump and throw him behind bars next to his buddy Paul Manafort for high crimes and misdemeanors.
At this point, settling for a “gotcha” impeachment probe would only be a consolation prize. It’s time to go for the Grand Prize of returning a Democrat to The White House and throwing “The Donald” behind bars for the rest of his days.

I think Pelosi gets it. She’s smart and very politically savvy. And any Dem running for president had better darn sure *get it* too.
There’s waaaay too much at stake this time for Dems to muck this up!
