That is exactly the message that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is bringing to her House Democratic colleagues in the wake of the release of the much-anticipated Mueller report. “We need to slow our roll, make sure we do our due diligence, dot all the “i’s” and cross all the “t’s.” What we can’t do is try to impeach President Donald Trump right this very second.

“As we proceed to uncover the truth and present additional needed reforms to protect our democracy, we must show the American people we are proceeding free from passion or prejudice, strictly on the presentation of fact,” Pelosi wrote in “Dear Colleague” letter released Monday. “While our views range from proceeding to investigate the findings of the Mueller report or proceeding directly to impeachment, we all firmly agree that we should proceed down a path of finding the truth.”

In reply to Mr.BD. My guess is, the Southern District of New York IS indeed quite troubling for Trump, his 3 older kids and Kushner. But you're right BD. We must be patient.

Oh boy this is everything Ihave been trying to say. The Repubs are so scared of Trump and his base they will never impeach him. Even though they should after all Trump has done when Bill Clinton only had sex. So if Dems try to impeach it will be a trap and they will lose. I would like to see them hold hearings during the election so people see it on tv everyday about all the BS Trump has been involved in. Use all this to advantage and get him out at the polls is the only way to do this.

Trump earned an indictment by Congress but there is a long game to consider. Pelosi should make a public statement, her Caucus is tabling the issue to focus on legislation and the 2020 election and make clear while Trump deserves impeachment the focus will be on what benefits the American people. It is a tough pill to swallow as Trump has made attempts to sidetrack the investigation. If rules allow this issue can be revisited should Trump win in 2020 or simply wait for the plethora of other acts that Trump will likely commit. […]
