MUSIC MASH-UP
There were 2 major stories in the music world this week. Both involved some rather large names:
`
THE BEATLES
It seems like it took a lifetime to happen. But one of the most important music bands in a generation has finally arrived at the iTunes store.
On Tuesday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that the Beatles catalog is now available in the iTunes store for full purchase of the box set ($150.) or for purchase of individual songs ($1.29). Surviving band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison had long prevented the catalog from being available for digital download, reportedly because they were concerned the music quality wouldn’t be as clear and pristine as the originals. But Steve Jobs was able to magically work all that out, and as late as last week secured the deal to finally bring The Beatles into the download age of music.

MICHAEL JACKSON
Prior to his untimely death last year, pop icon Michael Jackson recorded a truck load of new music that can be released for years and years following his death. Earlier this week, his first posthumous song went public.
“Hold My Hand” is a duet with pop singer Akon, who said working with the King of Pop was “a dream come true… it was epic.” Critics have questioned if the voice is actually Michael’s or that of a sound alike. But Akon as well as the Jackson family both confirm the voice is indeed Michael’s.
Look for Sony Music to release many, many more Michael Jackson tunes to come.

I really don't understand what the big deal was about the Beatles being on itunes. Anybody who likes the Beatles probably already has all their music on their ipods by now. Small victory for Apple but nothing major for most of us.I like the new Michael Jackson song. Anybody who's a Michael fan can tell it's him singing so not sure who the doubters were. Definitely looking forward to seeing how they retrack all his old unreleased songs and put them out like new.
