Muslim Americans are beginning to fight back against the fear and hate being directed toward them of late. And their only weapon is — compassion.
The grassroots group MY FAITH, MY VOICE has launched a new commercial to show that Muslims are normal American people just like everybody else. It features a Doctor, a Policeman, young children, even a Phillies fan — and utilizes English, Spanish, even sign language. They’re all Muslims. And they’re all Americans.
“I don’t want to take over this country,” a variety of speakers say during the PSA. “I don’t support terrorism.” The commercial is an attempt by Muslim Americans to fight back against “the rising tide of fear-mongering” that has become commonplace since plans were announced to build a Muslim community center in Lower Manhattan. The project has somehow come to be known as the “Ground Zero Mosque,” despite the fact it is several blocks away from the former World Trade Center and includes other facilities besides an already existing space for prayer.
Creators of the commercial say they have “no affiliation to any one organization or school of thought.” But following the intense hate recently directed Muslim Americans in general, which culminated last week with the stabbing of a New York City taxi cab driver just because he is Muslim, they believe it is time to take back their reputation.

Sadly, it seems America has yet again entered another era when Hatred against the "Others" rules the day:(Non-violent Muslim-Americans MUST make their voices heard over the vitriolic screeches and deplorable actions of anti-Muslim bullies and bigots of every ilk. Americans of goodwill and fairness (regardless of religious affiliation) will support their efforts. IMO, the one thing Non-violent Muslim Americans must NOT do is slink away or hide in the shadows (like most Democrat politicians) hoping this will all soon blow over.
