NBC LATE NIGHT FIGHTS

Spread The Love

The late night talk show wars continue to heat up over at NBC, as Conan and Jay take personal jabs at each other, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel take jabs at Jay, and even NBC now stabbing Conan O’Brien as a failure.

Last week, NBC executive Dick Ebersol trashed Conan O’Brien in a New York Times interview, calling him an “astounding failure” and saying his jokes about Jay Leno have been “chicken-hearted and gutless.”  Ebersol, who is the current chairman of NBC Universal Sports and in charge of NBC’s Olympic coverage, took the unexpected target practice at Conan just as NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker was reportedly trying to broker a deal that would release Conan as early as this week, but keep him off the air for 3.5 years.  Ebersol described Conan’s jokes about Leno as “chicken-hearted and gutless to blame a guy you couldn’t beat in the ratings.” He added, “what this is really all about is an astounding failure by Conan.”

But Conan O’Brien seems to be taking it all in stride, even as he prepares for what could be his last week as host of THE TONIGHT SHOW.  In a comedic bit that aired Friday, Conan has put the show up for sale on Craigslist.  WATCH:
