On Monday, Netflix announced that former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have signed a multiyear deal to produce original television programs and movies for the streaming service. By Tuesday, conservatives took pitchforks in hand and bombarded social media with threats to cancel their subscriptions unless Netflix backs out of the deal.

Yes, the hate for the first African-American president continues even into his private life. According to the formal announcement from Netflix, the Obama’s “entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.” Although their eventual programming could become political in nature, absolutely nothing in the official statement alluded to anything political or partisan in nature. With that said, even IF their eventual programming ended up being political in nature, that is their right as private citizens who are protected under America’s laws of freedom of speech.
According to The New York Times, the Netflix original content from the Obama’s is not at all expected to be a vehicle for partisan rhetoric, adding that Barack Obama “has told associates that he does not intend to use the new platform to wage a public campaign against his successor in the Oval Office, or to fight against conservative media outlets like Fox News.”
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” Barack Obama said in a statement on Monday. “That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”
Michelle Obama added: “Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others. Netflix’s unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership.”

In a nation where Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Alex Jones spew conservative hate across radios daily and the entire Fox News Network creates their own version of the truth, why are so many people threatened by Barack and Michelle Obama producing entertainment on a streaming service??
Is it because he was an unpopular president? Nope. According to Gallup Polls, Mr. Obama’s approval rating rests at a comfortable 63% and is ranked only 3rd best behind John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.
Could it be because Mr. Obama used his time in office to race bait and side with hate groups? Nope, again. Barack Obama was actually accused of not using his position to do enough for African-Americans. It was Donald Trump who has established a race-baiting reputation and who sided with hate groups by claiming “There are good people on both sides” during the white supremacist march of Charlottesville.
Perhaps America doesn’t want to watch programming from a lying, cheating, womanizing adulterer whose 8 years in office were filled with scandal after scandal. Wrong again! The former president earned the nickname “No Drama Obama” for surviving in Washington without a single scandal. ZERO.
So, why would anyone hate Barack and Michelle so much that they’d threaten to cancel their prized Netflix subscriptions simply because the Obama’s are producing entertainment content?
By chance, could it be because these 2 cocoa brown skin people are still revered as American royalty by a majority of the country — and Donald Trump could NEVER be him? BINGO!!!
We already know what this i all about. This black man was one of the most successful president’s in history. So they hate him. That is the reason Trump is doing his damndest to erase everything Obama ever did. It is as simple as black and white. I’m happy for him and Michelle and I wish them all the luck in the world at Netflix.
