NEW FOOD-SAVING PLASTIC
Do you throw away a lot of food weekly that’s gone bad? Now, there’s a new, “intelligent” plastic that will fix all that.
Developed by British professor Andrew Mills, this new/high-tech plastic storage bag is designed to react to changes in the food chemicals or the oxygen levels inside the bag. When those changes reach a certain point, the bag changes color, alerting you that the enclosed food has gone bad. And if you haven’t opened your food yet, it will also change color if its seal has been broken.
The new storage bag is available in the United Kingdom, but will be making its way over to the U.S. soon. And just in time for Americans to start saving more food before needing to toss it out.
