NEWT ONCE PRAISED ‘ROMNEY-CARE’

Spread The Love

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich claims to be staunchly opposed to “Romney-Care,” which he has frequently compared to “Obama-Care.” But has he really always hated the idea?

Newt’s disdain for the so-called liberal health plan Mitt Romney introduced while governor of Massachusetts is no secret.  In fact, Gingrich and many other conservatives claim it was the blueprint for President Obama’s controversial health care plan passed in 2010.

But thanks to modern technology and the Internet, it appears that Newt’s displeasure with the health plans of both Romney and Obama is overstated and was previously non-existent.

“We agree entirely with Governor Romney and Massachusetts legislators that our goal should be 100 percent insurance coverage for all Americans,” Gingrich wrote in a 2006 memo dug up by the website BuzzFeed.  Hmmm…

Gingrich and his Republican colleagues, including Romney, have all pledged to repeal what they have dubbed “Obamacare.”  But exactly how can Newt be so against a plan he was once a huge supporter of??
