Yes, Truthiz1, my job these days has been beyond difficult. With so many stories (mostly Trump-related) coming at us all in rapid succession, it’s been more difficult than you know to pick the best topic for the day. If you only saw the list of stories that didn’t make it — not because they weren’t important, but because there was simply no space to fit into the day’s news cycle — you’d be amazed. Thanks for taking note.

Sadly, you’re right Saleem, After we had made so much progress now it looks like we very well may have to start all over again…and it didn’t have to happen!

But honestly, it wasn’t just “a bunch of white privileged assholes” who followed Trump’s twisted azz and caused this predictable disaster. A bunch of ignorant-azz Black folks and some ignorant-azz Hispanics are also to blame. And we know a lot more people are going to get sick and die. The numbers will continue to go up in the coming weeks.

We made so much progress against covid in the United States, particularly along the eastern seaboard. And now because of 45 and a bunch of white privileged assholes, who can’t make a single sacrifice to wear a simple mask, we are maybe weeks away from having to start from scratch.

Financial Times: ‘US left off EU list of nations exempt from coronavirus travel ban’

The US has failed to make it on to a shortlist of countries to be exempted from an EU coronavirus ban on travel from outside the bloc, under a draft being voted on by member states.

Residents from a maximum of 15 nations — including China, Japan, South Korea, Canada and Australia — would be welcomed in the EU and the largely overlapping Schengen common travel area from July 1, if the proposal is approved on Tuesday.

The US has been excluded along with most of the rest of the world under the criteria, which include trends in published pandemic infection rates and whether these are currently higher or lower than those in the EU’s 27 countries. Washington retains its own ban imposed in March on visitors from Ireland and the 26-country Schengen area, which includes 22 EU member states.

EU capitals have until mid-day on Tuesday to object to the make-up of the list, which also includes Algeria, Georgia, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.
