NORTHWEST ‘BLAME GAME’
Remember the story of the Northwest Airlines Pilots who overshot their intended destination of Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport in October by an unbelievable 150 miles? Well, let the blame game begin!
First they said they were in a heated discussion regarding work hours. Then they claimed to have been distracted by working on their laptops in the cockpit. But now, in separate responses to the law judge handling their case, Capt. Timothy B. Cheney, 53, of Gig Harbor, Washington, and First Officer Richard I. Cole, 54, are blaming air traffic controllers for the snafu, saying air traffic control rules weren’t followed, which contributed to the incident. (INSERT LAUGH HERE!)
“The air traffic controller(s) did not comply with the requirements of the air traffic control manual and other relevant orders, rules, procedures, policies and practices with respect to NorthwestFlight 188, nor coordinate effectively with Northwest dispatch, and such failure was a causal or contributing factor in the incident,” the pilots said.
ANYTHING than to take ownership and responsibility!
