Trump’s enablers and supporters will no doubt continue to PRETEND that Nunes’s Memo actually “proves” wrongdoing on the part of the FBI knowing darn well that it doesn’t. They know Trump is full of it; and Nunes is full of it; and the “memo” is pure garbage.

The truth is, they can’t handle the Truth and so they will carry on with their foolishness until this entire nightmare (this sham of a presidency) is over.

It’s now Tues. Feb. 6th and I just did a quick drive-by of RedState -one of the right-wing sites I’ve always looked to to get a pretty accurate pic of right-wing “conservative” (small *c*) thinking – not to be confused with the more intellectually Conservative site TAC.

And let me just say- if, as a Repub, your sorry-azz narrative is LOSING over at Redstate…then you’re LOSING period:

As our Patterico pointed out on Monday, Devin Nunes and the slapstick co-conspirators who hoped to bring down the FBI and Justice Department with a 4-page memo were foiled by their own incompetence.

Nunes and company hinged the entirety of their hopes on stating that the FBI failed to disclose the political origins of the Trump-Russia dossier, used to secure the initial FISA warrant on a former Trump campaign aide, Carter Page.

We’ll just ignore the fact that Page had been under scrutiny since 2013, and once referred to himself as an “advisor to the Kremlin.”

The wailing ridiculousness of Trump’s lackeys, that this would be bigger than Watergate, people were going to prison, the world was about to stop spinning on its axis… none of that happened, nor will it.

No, it hasn’t stopped Sean Hannity and his ilk from doing an end zone dance, as if it has happened. They’re invested in the narrative, no matter how far from true or how disproven.

Even Nunes, desperate to remain in the good graces of his liege, is now promising multiple memos. […]

I find this whole Russia interference business risible. The U.S. regularly interferes in elections of other countries, by providing financial and military support to pro-U.S. strongmen whom the U.S. wants to keep in power, to assassinating leaders and rivals who step out of line. Pot calling the kettle black much?

And if there’s any country that blatantly interferes in the U.S. elections, from the local to the Presidential, it’s Israel. You have to publicly and privately support Israel no matter what it does or you will not get campaign financing, especially if you’re a Democrat. Netanyahu publicly disrespected Obama by going against him on the Iran nuke deal, and all of Congress gave Netanyahu a standing ovation.

Russian interference is a trifle compared to Israel’s influence on our government. […]

What is the end game of all the pro-Trumpers? Do they really think their tactics of distraction, fabrication, and sowing of uncertainty will totally mask what Mueller has found, and will find?

Trump devotes more time to fighting the investigation than anything else. Why? If it was a nothing burger then logic indicates the best plan would be to let the investigation run it’s course. Since he does exactly the opposite, one should be very suspicious of his claims of innocence.

I suspect Mueller will drop some pretty damning reports and indictments in the next few weeks. Specifically on obstruction of justice. However, I also believe there are multiple tracks within the investigation. I suspect collusion and money laundering will be next.

No amount of scrubbing will remove the stench of Trump from his Republican defenders once all of his shenanigans are brought to light.

As I have said before, grab the popcorn and butter. It will be a very interesting 2018. […]
