I'd also like to add:The last time I felt such Angst about an issue that MANY of “Us” knew was UNJUST and would one day cost “Us” in spades_but Most Americans supported without forethought or hesitations _was the Unprovoked, premeditated invasion of Iraq championed by NeoCONS via the Bush/Cheney, which led to the raining down of untold death, mass terror and destruction_“SHOCK-and-AWE” upon an entire nation of INNOCENT people in retaliation for something they had absolutely NO hand in…9/11. The biggest supporters of such a horrofic act of aggression described themselves as "Christian" Americans.BTW: We’re still paying for Our invasion of Iraq today!But it appears “We” have learned nothing as MOST Americans_MOSTLY Christians_are yet again willing to punish INNOCENT people (NON-violent Muslim-Americans) for something they had NO hand in…9/11…which will undoubtedly cost “Us” AGAIN! Most Americans may be foolish enough to NOT care what the World thinks of Us_ particularly 1.2 Billion Muslims_but that won’t change the fact that how we’re viewed in the World really does matter. Our actions have consequences!One final thought: I'm thinking. Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda could NOT have possibly dreamed that the UNdoing of America (Our Constitution, values and principles) BY Americans would be this easy_SMH.

Was it “politically” smart for him to weigh in? Not in the short term. But long term? We shall see. Regardless. IMO, it was indeed the "Correct" thing for him for to do. And I would argue, it was inevitable given the determination of the usual rabble-rousers aided (AS USUAL) by 24/7 cable news to take a local_but Very sensitive” issue and turn it into a national _and Very sensitive_ issue where it seems all of America somehow has a “say” in what religious structures are allowed to be built in downtown Manhattan(?)I agree with the President’s first comments on the matter. And I agree with his follow-up comments. However, I wish he’d had said it all in his initial comments thus avoiding the need for a second comment to clarify the first. This is about upholding the “Constitution.” One can argue whether it's “wise” for Cordoba House to build the Community-Center/Mosque at said location. But THAT is subjective. The issue of whether Cordoba House has the “Right” to build it at said loacation is NOT! Either “WE The People” believe in the Constitution” _and NOT just in theory BUT IN PRACTICE _or we don’t..!?! Sadly, with the entire World including, at least 1.2 BILLION NON-violent Muslims watching this whole shameful story play out I suspect it’s becoming clearer to ALL of them (as it’s certainly become clearer to me over the past 10 yrs)_what the answer to THAT question really is 🙁
