OBAMA IN ‘The Big Easy’

Spread The Love
President Obama fulfilled a campaign promise yesterday by visiting New Orleans for the first time during his presidency.  Mr. Obama visited a charter school, hosted a town hall meeting to hear stories of residents’ concerns, and praised survivors of Hurricane Katrina by addressing efforts to rebuild the city ravaged by the storm 4 years ago.
Although some called his short 4 hour visit a “glorified flyover,” not everyone felt that concern.  The President was extremely well received and wildly cheered in his Town Hall appearance, even hearing a few “I love you’s” reminiscent of his days on the campaign trail. Perhaps the surprise of the day was the rather unwelcome reception Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was given, with the very mention of his name garnering multiple boos from the crowd.  This was Mr. Obama’s first visit to the region as president, but his 5th visit since Hurricane Katrina struck.
