OBAMA: “Iraqi War Is Over”
In a rare prime time Oval Office speech, the president ceremoniously delivered on a campaign promise, formally giving the many military members and their families the end of war pronouncement they’ve been eagerly waiting to hear. And although Mr. Obama adamantly opposed the war as a presidential candidate, he used last night’s speech to surprisingly thank the man who got us into it in the first place — George W. Bush.
Regarding his predecessor, Mr. Obama said that although “he and I disagreed about the war from its outset, no one could doubt President Bush’s support for our troops, or his love of country and commitment to our security.”
“As I have said, there were patriots who supported this war, and patriots who opposed it,” he said. “And all of us are united in appreciation for our servicemen and women, and our hopes for Iraqis’ future.”
So are we truly leaving Iraq behind for good, especially since a formal government is not yet in place and the Iraqi military is not yet at the ready? Or is the United States forever tied to protecting Iraq from hostile takeover, since we’re the ones responsible for dismantling the government and its army?

(shrugging my shoulders)One thing I do know. Iraq is a schizophrenic AND corrupt mess. Iran will likely end up the biggest winner of this colossal American foreign policy disaster. AND the people who LIED Us into this… Read more »
