Reggie Love is known as the “body man” for President Obama — shadowing him everywhere he goes, being a hands on personal valet, even having everything from a pen to a stick of gum at the ready for the world’s most powerful man. Reggie Love is also considered by the president as the little brother he never had. Now, Reggie Love is leaving the White House.
Perhaps no other White House aide is closer to the president than the 30-year-old former Duke football and basketball star, who has worked for Mr. Obama since his days in the Senate. A constant companion, Love is someone ready to play basketball with the president at a moment’s notice, or gather some eager college or professional basketball players to the White House for a quick pick-up game.
But now, Reggie Love says he will leave his White House post by the end of the year. No one is exactly sure why Love is leaving at this time, but sources say he wishes to focus on finishing his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School, in preparation for life after an Obama administration.
