Obama Names Lew To Treasury
With exactly one week to go before his 2nd inauguration, President Obama continued to round out his cabinet last week, by naming Jack Lew as his choice to succeed Timothy Geithner as the nation’s Treasury Secretary.
Jacob “Jack” Lew, who currently serves as White House Chief of Staff, would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Treasury Dept. Having served twice as head of the Office of Budget and Management during the Clinton administration and as a key player in the recent debt ceiling talks, Lew’s appointment would come at a crucial time when the U.S. is actively trying to rein in its spending and secure its fiscal health.
“As the son of a Polish immigrant, a man of deep and devout faith, Jack knows that every number on a page, every dollar we budget, every decision we make has to be an expression of who we wish to be as a nation, our values, the values that say everybody gets a fair shot at opportunity,” Mr. Obama said during last week’s announcement.
If confirmed, Lew would become the nation’s highest ranking Orthodox Jew in U.S. history and could replace Geithner very quickly, who is scheduled to leave his post immediately after the inauguration.
After naming John Kerry as Secretary of State, Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense and John Brennan as Director of the CIA, Mr. Obama must now find replacements for Hilda Solis at Labor, Lisa Jackson at EPA and Ray LaHood at Transportation, who have all announced their decision not to remain for a second term.
In light of the fact that the President is taking quite a bit of heat for what seems to be an "all white MEN'S club" (the Dems gave Romney h*ll for this) I suspect the President has instructed his staff to find a qualified, competent and experienced FEMALE to nominate for a major position (or two)..a.s.a.p.
